I'd prefer to do a big east challenge but agree a challenge of any sort would help bolster brand recognition and help teams not named uconn in scheduling.
Honestly, we don't need a challenge. We need to establish league wide minimum requirements for OOC basketball scheduling. That would do far more than any challenge we could scare up at this point.

A couple brand names in the Big P., the carryover dregs from the old Big East (Providence, DePaul, Seton Hall, etc.), a regionally out of place never-done-nothin', perennial one-and-done in the NCAA's with Creighton, a surging Johnny-Come-Lately in Butler...
UConn, Cincy, Memphis, SMU, Shockers...
If the AD would have asked me to pick between the Big Priest and the AAC on my preferred choice of conferences, I would have chosen the Big P.... but just barely. The tie-breaker being the fact that the P. is basketball-only and I think we would have received more revenue sharing. This conference has absolutely every chance in the world to be a better basketball conference than the P. but there needs to be more television revenue. BCS football without the big dollars rolling in is a legitimate threat to maintaining national competitiveness in basketball.

How would this be a one-sided challenge? I honestly think that we would win the challenge. I tried to match the teams up to create as equal of games as possible based on how I think the teams will do next year. I also took into account how match-ups sounded, so don't get all upset if you think your team will finish better than they are listed. Obviously we don't know who will finish where, and several of the teams (WSU and Cincy) seem pretty exchangeable at this point, but you get the idea (also I think Xavier will finish ahead of Creighton but that would match them up with Cincy and they already play so I moved it around a bit). Looking at these games I don't know how anyone could think that we would get destroyed. I honestly would be slightly surprised if we didn't AT LEAST split 5-5.

UCF was supposed to play butler at home this year but butler backed out and instead scheduled St. Louis.
I agree with you, I think AAC would win this matchup quite handily.
