Hate the new site design, can not find anything. I liked on the old site the fact that the upcoming events and viewing options were right there on the page as you got there. Now you have to hunt for things. Terrible design.

Sent an email to feedback complaining, wonder what they will say!!

Yeah I am old.

Nice, that's nice

I like the layout.
Very solid layout I will say. Do like it and think it's a much sleeker look now
Brian, I don't want to nitpick, but my first impression was that the olds would like this update. There's a giant (a little large IMO) menu of links right in the middle of the page. The text is huge on this site.
It will take a little getting used to but it is a sleeker look, I like it!

I'm not as far south as Brian, but do see where he's coming from. Everything is so big and you have to scroll down and your eyes have to go all over the screen while scrolling in an attempt to find what you're looking for. It helps a little if I take my laptop screen down to 50%. Definitely needs some tweaking.

I agree
It actually looks like it was designed for folks with poor vision. Way too busy for my taste with too many things jumbled on there at once. My opinion and 50 cents gets you a phone call on a working pay phone (if you can find one of those) but it gives me a headache.

And I too am old :-).

It looks more like it's designed for a four year old rather than someone older than 50. IMHO: The home page of a site shouldn't require scrolling more than one page down, people just never make it that far. With that being said, people will never get down as low as where the sponsors are located on the page.

I'm not too old and I agree with your comments. It's so busy, hard to know what I'm looking at, and I don't understand the number. It reminds me of a less organized version of pinterest (which also can be overwhelming at times).

I don't understand what was wrong with the old site? It wasn't dated, and I thought it was easier to navigate.
I agree that it is too busy and I think simpler is better. I do like the scrolling scoreboard up on the top though.
Here's my problem with it. Scores at the top, that's something I guess. But there's no main headline(s) above the fold. I should have to scroll down on a main landing page to find out...anything? Poor.
You know how sites are 'optimized for mobile browsing?'

...This is a joke right?

I was not a huge fan of the old site, IMO it was getting dated and needed an update.

That being said, looks like they basically abandoned having a desktop version of the site and are allowing that to have some pretty major problems. This makes me incredibly sad, but I understand that most people are using phones and tablets. Here's hoping they'll fix up the desktop version with a future iteration.
But...but...the mobile side is worse.

Okay, now that I've switched to my phone, it does make a little more sense. Though, I really don't go to my phone for browsing unless I have no access to a computer. That part of me shows my age.

Yeah, it's called "responsive" design and is supposed to change a variety of the visuals (layout, images, font size, tables, menus, columns, etc) based on the size of your screen (resolution) and your device/OS. They've just done a horrible job of it. You can't create "one-size fits all" when the width difference between a mobile device and a large PC monitor is practically an order of magnitude. Since JMU is among dozens of other schools using this vendor's templates I'm sure there's a whole slew of users having similar reactions. Guarantee it gets updated shortly to correct.
Thought the old site was perfectly fine. If I'm not mistaken it's only been around for less than 5 years anyway.

The mobile site is currently trash. Absolutely trash. As the screenshots above me so clearly indicate. I rarely ever use the desktop version of JMUSports or this site for that matter.

Sizing seems screwed up on desktop version too. I can't see anything but headers without scrolling. When you hover over 'sports' or 'inside athletics' all of the drop down options aren't even visible.

I'm not a huge fan of the feed look but I get the appeal so I won't complain about it specifically. Just makes it harder to navigate.
