I think this would be great fit for Toledo in Football only. You could have North and South Division, if they added a couple teams

The article is not well presented since they use Louisville and Rutgers logos in the graphic and they are "never beens" for the AAC. The AAC has been pushing this idea since it's inception but will be difficult to achieve. The Big East gained acceptance but it was many years in the making. The big boys of P5 don't like to share. The football attendance at many schools (Temple, Memphis, Tulane) is terrible or about on par with MAC. Overall conference strength is simply not there yet in my opinion for a jump top P5. UT would be well served to jump at a football invitation but it is unlikely without several more years of high level success.

What makes the AAC think the P5 conferences want to share their huge amounts of money with them?

I hate Tampa as regards UT football, more than any other place except BG.

AAC would be great as long as schools like Cincy, Temple, and Houston don't bolt... If they were gone, along with UCF, and maybe Memphis, it would be no better than the MAC/CUSA with not many drivable games...

The AAC is as delusional as Ok St. Everyone that is anyone in that Conference is trying to get out.

MAC is as good a conference as any. I say put Toledo in the BIG 10 so we can beat Minnesota (again) and get some of that big money. $$$. Toledo is as good as Rutgers, Indiana, Purdue, Northwestern and Minnesota. GO ROCKETS !!!

In reality, the "perception" nationally is that the MAC is not a good conference. I find it laughable every time you hear so called Draft pundits, when discussing a potential MAC player in the draft, they always comment on level of competition as being a negative. They call them "small" college players. No one ever will comment on the success rate of MAC players in the NFL. Right now in the NFL, arguably the best Offensive Player ( Antonio Brown), and best Defensive Player ( K. Mack) are MAC players. Level of competition should NEVER be part of the conversation any longer when evaluating a MAC player. But 100% of the time, a comment will be made by these media pundits. Unfortunately, this national perception will not change. Because, a positive national perception of the MAC is not what the big $ schools want communicated by the media.

In one breath I heard a TV analyst talk about a Draft pick being questionable because of playing a MAC schedule then talking about a team having it hard because it's in the AFC East, having to play against players like Julian Edelman.

We averaged over 27K. Memphis averaged over 37K. I'm not going to pretend those are both incredible, but I wouldn't call either of those terrible. We're on par or within range of schools like BC, Duke, Northwestern, Purdue, Kansas, Cuse, Vandy, Wazzu, Wake, which is pretty good considering how awful our program is historically.

We averaged ~6,600 more per game than you, and ~3,400 more than Western. Memphis was obviously a lot more than that for both.

Temple must be the Eastern Michigan of the G5 American Conference...the school that dramatically inflates its attendance numbers.

Rockets had of its worst home schedules averaging about 16,000 for its midweek ESPN games. Rockets drew over 30,000 for BGSU and over 23,000 for lightweight Maine. We'll see how attendance is when Tulsa visits.

I was going to comment on the midweek games but you beat me to it. That has an obvious profound impact on attendance figures - and a residual effect on games played on Saturdays since season tickets are less attractive if you know you will not be going to at least 2 of the games during the year. Without the season tickets, there is less incentive to go to games on Saturdays against the "no-name" teams that we have in. Easier to watch on ESPN3 or CBS Sports since many fans have become disconnected from the game day experience.

Uh, not even close. We MIGHT get an occasional football win against that group and might knock off NW in hoops some years. The others would usually crush us in men's hoops and most other sports, including all the ones we can't afford. Our women hipsters would pull off some wins, though.

Recruiting would improve with a move to a better Conference. You only have to look
UCinn to see how their move effected the FB program. UT Men's BB is having to undo the 25 years of letting the program/facilities slide and follow it with betting/HC scandals. The recent news on being the only MAC Men's program with a top APR was great news.
