Weather could be iffy. There are a few storms popping up here and there this morning and I guess round 2 will be tonight, and possibly more wide spread. But there is also a chance we get nothing so I don't know if it's worth postponing the game? Just something to keep an eye on.

Speaking of midweek games, I see where Sam Houston State beat UH last night for the third consecutive Tuesday. Counting their 3 wins and our 2 wins the Tuesdays before that, UH has lost 5 straight Tuesday games. We'll have to keep the streak going next Tuesday. Seth Romero was re-instated to their team last night and took the loss for them.
As others have pointed out, midweek games are meaningless to us at this point. The OG should save ALL his quality pitching (meaning the 7 guys he has limitted action to the past month) for the weekend CUSA series; especially this week when we face the last of the top conference teams in Charlotte. Give Parthasarathy the start and see how far he can go, but stretch him for 2 - 3 innings regardless to the score. Then go with Kravetz, Schragger, Garcia, et al.

Of course, based on our past couple midweeks, Wayne will probably stick exclusively with his 7 pitchers, and start Jefferies. 03-banghead
Looks like Orewiler will get the start going against a LHP with a 7.82 ERA..

Scheduled to start at 5 PM.
I guess Myers does have to sit tonight's game...

Rice lineup tonight: Wunderlich-lf; Chandler-cf; DiCaprio-dh; Sheppard-1b; Proctor-ss; Gray-2b; Moss-3b; Lammons-c; Warren-rf.

...but why Moss (.133/.166/.188) instead of Jefferies at 3B or Lammons? Has Moss ever played 3B before? And here we go again with a guy with a .277 OBP batting leadoff. Como se dice, insanity? And why not Dunlap? Quite honestly, I would have gone with Dom catching, Jefferies at 3B, Moss at 2B, Gray in LF and Dunlap at DH.
Does Dane have a one game or a three game suspension because of the ejection against UTSA?
Lamar's LHP, Ryan Johnson: 11 app, 4 starts, but only 12.2 IP (!!!), 2-1, 7.82 ERA, .385 BAA, 20 hits (7 extrabases), 9 BBs, 2 HBP, 2 WPs, 8 Ks

In other words, he's been as wild as Orewiler, and averaging just an inning per outing, despite starting 4 games. Expect another pitcher by the 3rd inning, if not sooner.

When is there ever a 3 game suspension in college baseball?
Game time temp is 84F with 70% humidity for a feels like temp of 91F. Lovely!

On a positive note, the high for Thursday is 77F. There will be some weather tonight to effect that kind of change in Houston in May.
And since there is supposed to be a decent line of storms heading into town around 8 pm tonight, it's probably not super wise for both teams to be starting pitchers with a history of wildness.
Lamar has 5 hitters hitting over .297 and 4 batters with 30+ RBIs. However, keep in mind that despite their respectable 26 - 19 record, they have played a whopping 20 games against teams with RPIs above 200. That's why their SOS is an awful #184. Our SOS is #4 nationally.
Orewiler threw 5 groundballs in the first inning-- 2 for singles, but escaped unscathed...and the good news is he's throwing strikes.

Wunderlich hit a mightly grounder that made it to the pitcher. Again, why not Dunlap? Why not ANYONE else save for Warren at leadoff?
Chandler grounded out to 2B.
DiCaprio lined single. Man on 1B, two outs.
Sheppard another line single. Runners at the corners, two outs.
Proctor walked to load the bases with two outs.
Gray flied out.

Scoreless heading to the top of the second inning.
Orewiler gives up leadoff triple, and the run scores on ground out. Myers or Jefferies might have made a play on the triple down the line.

Frequently. Check the rule book. If it's the second time Dane has been ejected this year (which I hope it isn't), then it's 3. Also, if the head coach is ejected for "game misconduct" (not "unsportsmanlike behavior "), that's two games in addition to the game at hand. There's a whole chart that sets forth the different penalties, so not exactly a "when is there ever" situation...
No further damage in the second inning....and Nick continues to throw strikes, which is certainly a positive (even if he's not missing bats).

Moss flied out to CF.
Lammons flied out to LF. Ho hum.
Warren reached on an error. Two outs.
Wunderlich first pitch pop to 2B.
Awful AB after awful AB against a pitcher who has struggled throwing strikes all season. Warren and Wunderlich have become virtually automatic outs.

Down 0-1 heading to the top of the third inning.
Orewiler gives up a leadoff double this time...and another double scores the run. Still no outs. It's going to be a long night. Nick may be throwing strikes, but they're up in the zone and i think he has only one swing and miss so far. He's not fooling anyone. Now a single puts runners at the corners; still no outs. Two more singles plate another and loads the bases, still with no outs. 8 hits now in 2.0 IP. Batting practice.
But he hasn't walked anyone!
Batting practice underway. 3 runs in, 5 straight hits, bases loaded nobody out
Thank goodness. Parthasary now in. No pressure, just the typical bases loaded nobody out situation...
Parthasarathy, who should have gotten the start, now in in an impossible situation- bases loaded, no outs, and already down 0-3.
