IMO, it goes a lot deeper than just coaching.

Well when they asked Ken Campbell why he would leave ETSU to go to a JUCO his answer was something along the line of I wanted to go somewhere they cared about winning and would support me. Heck ETSU lost a football coach to lower division school (at the time) for roughly the same reason.
Bucs swept VMI to finish the regular season 7th. They play Western Carolina on Wednesday in the 2/7 match-up, then either UNCG or Samford after that.

They've managed as many wins as they got last year. I dare say, Skole might yet dodge the hammer again...
There's too much baseball talent in our region to be satisfied with seventh-place finishes in the Southern Conference. It's time to move on from Skole.

A 7th place finish with a .500 regular season record, sub .500 conference record and will most likely finish below .500 after getting ousted from the conference tournament.
Tennessee will have cycled out three coaches in the same time, two of which have had similar results and a third who was pretty competitive for awhile in Delmonico but was a giant butthole.
It's time.
Thats a HUGE turn of events, even more so since the earliest we will play again is noon on Friday. Our pitching gets a full day of rest today for what will probably be two games Friday if we lose the first game. Everybody else's pitching gets churned today, and it could get really interesting if there's another upset sometime today. Go Bucs!

A more informative writeup: SoCon
Number 3 seed, UNCG, defeats Samford 6-3.

Bucs vs. Spartans, Friday at noon.
How the Bucs won: Secret Weapon
Man, what a beautiful baseball facility they have there....
Probably shouldn't have made that pitching change. Immediate bad results.
Now tonight at 7 vs. VMI. Loser goes home.
Bucs beat Samford 16-6, now they have to turn around and play Furman. If they win that game, they play for the conference title tomorrow against UNCG needing two wins.

This is also the first 30-win season and winning season for the program since 2013, when they won the A-Sun title on the back of Kerry Doane. Needless to say, Skole has gone from serious danger with two weeks to go to almost assuredly back for 2018, unless he takes the Citadel job.
And as I assume most know by now, they did not succeed, losing 8-6, I believe.
So finishing 1 game over .500 and being .500 for the first time since 2013 means Skole is almost assuredly back for 2018? I guess I don't understand baseball coaching expectations, as it doesn't seem like that would be acceptable for any other sport.

A 30-win season in baseball is roughly the equivalent of a 20-win season in basketball; a championship program will win more, but if you're hitting that benchmark consistently (which, admittedly, Skole has not), you'll have a competitive and generally well-regarded program. Since Skole had three consecutive losing seasons prior to 2017 and hasn't been shown the door yet, my intuition tells me this was a satisfactory season for the administration considering the resources available, and Skole will return for 2018 provided he wishes to.

Now the caveat to that is, I have no idea what sort of expectations were set for baseball coming into the year and whether they met them or not. It's possible, depending on what happens with the draft in two weeks and who gets picked up (I would imagine several players will get their names called), Skole may see the writing on the wall for next year and push for the opening at his alma mater down in Charleston. There aren't many that can match his connections and cache at The Citadel, and he would likely have much more job security and administrative support there simply because of his background.
So an unexpected tournament run gives them a barely over .500 record and he stays. Ridiculous.

He's putting out information for camps, so that all but confirms ETSU is not ushering him out. The political will to make a change just doesn't seem to exist at the top.
The only logical explanation is he's got naked pictures of somebody. 18 years of sub .500 baseball with one championship and postseason appearance in an NCAA regional.
