Tulane and Southern Miss have signed a four-year deal to play football.

Many in our fan base wondered when some of the former conference mates would start rekindling our long-time rivalries.

I'll admit, I would have guessed ECU, Houston, or Memphis before Tulane. But I'm happy a school 90 minutes away is going to be back on schedule. The Green Wave with the big boy award for the group!

I am happy they signed this deal. We should bring 20k to New Orleans. I hope they can get a series with ECU anf UCF.

Youson or memphis will never play us in anything again. We resumed hoops with tulane at the first opportunity last year.
20k? Do what?

We played Memphis in 2015 in hoops.
They are the first AAC team we have signed as well. Glad to play the Wave.

That was a one time for some odd reason. They wont schedule baseball, girls hoops or anything.
I'd love to play Southern Miss home and home in football.

Yes, the fans always showed up for this away game. It was an excuse to go to New Orleans.

Even that weren't an exaggeration(it is), you do know they only seat 30k now, right?

10k would be a great showing.
We will bring many fans to New Orleans. But 20k? Don't think so. We only brought about 10-15k for the NOLA Bowl. Provided we don't meltdown between now and 2022, I'd expect 7-8k in black/gold there.

that's the correct actual number....

the cool thing about this is we essentially picked up 2 extra home games with a long time rival....

it will be nice to see how the black and gold stands out in their new stadium....
Tulane's OOC football schedule includes:

2017 @FIU
2018 @UAB
2019 FIU
2021 UAB
2022 USM
2023 @USM
2026 USM
2027 @USM

I would have said Memphis or Tulane, as those are two games USM fans travel well for.. so that one doesn't surprise me.

Yes, I know their new stadium only holds 30k. I am basing my numbers off when we played them in the Super Dome and we brought tons of fans. They only had a few of their own fans. These games will be sold out with roughly 60% stadium having Southern Miss fans.

You're the only USM fan who seems to think so, another one said that's more than you took to the New Orleans Bowl.

Again, 10k would be impressive.
I guess we will just have to wait and see. The students were out for Christmas break for the Bowl game. These games will be during the regular term.
Not sure how being on campus will affect our crowd. In the days of the dome we would get many "fans" who wont come to a game on our campus because it was in nola.
I hope we get you on a future schedule for some games.

Yeah, it sucks that Memphis scheduled a home and home with UL-Monroe, South Alabama, and Georgia State. They gave the reason as recruiting, but scheduling USM and UAB would have been far better for the Memphis fans as games to look forward to.
