Clemson just got Donnal, so would think that takes up Whitman's potential spot there: https://twitter.com/GoodmanESPN/status/8...8997225472
Just announced 6'9" C Mark Donnal's (Michigan) transfer to Clemson. So, another option for Jack closes.

So, is he down to just GW on his publicly announced suitors?

Perfect scenario would be to have Jack back and get Marfo. Good big in place with a successor in the pipeline.
I think he should stay. GW is not a great option. Their arena is right by my office and their cheerleaders routinely give away tickets to games to people getting off the subway.

It may come to that. I just hope the relationship is still amicable.
It may come down to what he can study for an additional year at W&M. Jack's major seems to be kinesiology and heath sciences.

That may very well be the case, but shouldn't have involved a surprise decision. GW has only 6 returning scholarship players (2 soph bigs) and 3 incoming freshmen guards. Not ingredients for a very promising season, much less any post season play.

The ultimate scenario would be for Jack to stay, get an eligible Schuyler Rimmer, and have the ability to consistently put two big men on the court. As well as, to get Marfo. Practices with the four of them going at it would lift everyone's game, and I would like our chances at giving CofC a strong run for the title and post season play.

I'm not counting on Whitman changing his mind. He seemed dedicated to leaving at the recent Basketball Dinner.
How common is it for people who announce their transfer to come back? Feels like there's some grasping at straws here.
I agree. This ship has sailed.

I would say it has sailed except for the fact that no one seems to want him. He seems to have had dreams of the Big Time, not quite enough firepower on film to get there, and now it is between a bad choice (GW) and swallowing his pride and coming back. With him back, the team has lot going for it. Probably the best post tandem since Bill Phillips and Jermaine Harmon. (Better on both counts).
If no one else wants him he has the option of getting on with his life's work.

That's true but a free year of grad work and another year of basketball is a special opportunity.

Jack has boxed himself in a corner on this. Bad luck plus good but not exceptional talent has left him with no good choices at this point if we believe the postings here. His relationship with the staff has got be strained based on his last minute SURPRISE announcement that he was going to transfer which clearly blindsided the coaches. If his relationship had been ok the coaches would have acknowledged he was leaving and honored him at the basketball dinner (thou last minute) but instead it took Prewitt to announce to the audience that he was really leaving.

I doubt that Jack will approach the coaches at this point since he would feel his ship sailed and sunk but the smart play would be for Shaver to reach out to him with the olive branch.

Time will tell us the outcome.
Classes are over, graduation happens and Jack leaves Williamsburg. He's not coming back. Good luck, Jack. I hope you have a successful life whatever you do and thank you for your years here.
Jack Whitman going to Kansas. Wow. I guess someone wanted him...

@GoodmanESPN: Kansas has landed William & Mary grad transfer Jack Whitman, source told ESPN. Averaged 10 and 5 this past season.
