1pm first pitch at beautiful Reckling Park on the campus of Rice University...

Let's double our current win streak!!!

And, with apologies to millions of fans everywhere of Led Zeppelin and the Game of Baseball, we present:

Them Bulldogs need cooling
Baby I’m not fooling
We gonna send them
Back to schooling

A ball way down inside
Honey that was a strike?
We gonna give you a loss
Gonna give you a loss

Whoah!
Wanna whole lotta love?
Gotta beat La-Te- Tech!
Hit it past La Tech’s glove!
Send them Bulldogs to heck!

We both been cooling
And we have even been drooling
All those good times, baby
Now what the heck are we doing?

Way way down inside
The conference basement’s no where to hide
Forget the regional talk…
Just stop giving up walks…

Whoah!
Wanna beat La-Te- tech?
Gotta beat La-Te- tech!
Wanna salvage the wreck?
Need a win versus Tech!
Whoooooooah! Beat La Tech! We neeeeeed a wiiiiiiiiiiiin!

Rice lineup: Gneiting LF, Warren RF, Myers 3B, DiCaprio C, Proctor SS, Gray 2B, Sheppard 1B, Chandler CF, Sarchet DH, Jefferies P.

I like the idea of moving Myers to the bullpen, BUT....didn't Jefferies just pitch 5+ innings on Tuesday? What the heck is he doing starting today's game? Another head scratching pitching decision by The OG....unless he truly plans to go All Staff today, with Kendall pitching no more than 2 - 3 innings max, followed by Myers, Amador, Moss and Kravetz.

I also prefer Chandler in the #1 or #2 spot in the lineup. Both he and Sheppard HAVE to be ahead of Gray in the lineup at this point...at least until Tristan shows some signs of life. Proctor has hit 3 leadoff doubles already in this series, and Tristan has failed to even advance him to 3B once.

Jefferies only threw 59 pitches on Tuesday. He's fine on four day rest.
2 singles sandwiched around a SB scores 1 for La Tech in T1
The La Tech starter has an ERA of 0.74.

Let's see if the Owls can bump that up several runs.
Lead off walk followed by a hit and run single outs runners on the corners for the Owls.

K on a ball 2 ft outside in the dirt and CS give La Tech 2 quick outs.

And a caught looking ends the B1. 1-0 La Tech got by to T2.

Bad baseball so far.
Runners at the corners with no outs and we fail to score. 03-banghead03-puke
Jefferies providing batting practice in the 2nd.
If Kendall keeps throwing up in the zone it's going to be a long day for Rice, short day for Kendall.

Single, double to start to T2. Sac fly. Both runners move up. No further damage.

2-0 La Tech.
2-0 LA Tech heading to B2.
Dane is warming in the pen while the Owls bat.

And goes to the mound for the B2. Kendall goes to 3B.
And promptly gives up a leadoff single

Followed by another one. Sigh....

Great play by Dane cuts the lead runner down at 3b on the bunt.

HUGE strikeout of their stud Lunceford for out #2, then routine groundout to end the inning. Great recovery by Dane

Somebody's got to give you some props on this one, Owl. Outstanding!

With the 3,4,5 hitters coming up. Of course, #5 didn't bat due to the CS.
Owls go down quickly in order in the bottom of the 3rd.

And weakly.
Dane retires their side quickly and quietly as well, thankfully

And now gets the chance to start something leading off the B4.
Another weak inning, going down quietly in order. No hits since Charlie's single in the 1st.
La Tech pitcher's ERA now < 0.68 after 4 scoreless, 1 hit innings.
