I don't follow softball but, I can't help but notice that CSUB softball is awful. I looked a little bit into their history the last five years, their record from 2012 thru 2016 is 80 wins and 172 losses, despite having twice as many losses as wins, the athletic administration gave the coach of those terrible teams a three year contract extension in August of 2016. As of this AM softball is 6 wins & 25 losses. There are no SUCCESSFUL D1 programs in the NCAA that would put up with that.
I never addressed this. True, yes, softball not good since Buck took over and really since the DI move in truth, except for the WAC Tourney win last year.
I really dont follow it well either, but have been to a coupe of games and have really enjoyed them. They do really need to be more competitive in the WAC, given they had a good DII history.
The field was renovated just a year or two ago. Now, as mentioned in another thread, the focus is on dugouts.
Again, I am not a softball fan but, I do follow all CSUB sports, local paper shows softball completed season with 6 wins 38 losses, that is horrible. Current coach has never had even a .500 season in 5+ years, RPI is 289 out of 296 D1 teams. Will shortly be going into Big West were half of the teams are in the top 100 in RPI, how long will the athletic administration put up with this embarrassment? Additionally, baseball will have to improve a bunch going into the Big West...
My .02 cents...
I keep expecting to hear that the current softball coach, who in seven years has a record of 96 wins and 245 losses has been replaced. Apparently, that will not happen since Coach Crissy Buck-Ziegler is the wife of Assistant Athletic Director-Director of Sport Performance Brendon Ziegler, nepotism is alive and well at CSUB. Athletic Director "Ziggy" is responsible for this resulting in one of the worst softball programs in Division 1.
But I could be wrong...
