ps. Their criteria is based solely on poll appearances. 1 point per appearance, 2 points for a #1 appearance. And longevity is definitely a part of it.

How many programs that originated since the 1970s have a presence on that list? I would think most P5 programs predate WWII.

What I found interesting is the major drop off between #5 and #6. From there the field steps down gradually like you would expect, but between Kansas and Indiana there is almost a 200 point difference.

Is it any wonder they've got too much time on their hands?

Auburn's first season was 1906, and we had three NCAA appearances, two Sweet Sixteens, and an Elite Eight all before they made their NCAA debut...78 years later.
