Just wondering if you all have received a call from NIU Athletics to re-up your Football Season tix & HASF donation... seems I get a call every year, but it has been quiet this year.
They are in full sprint. I get my daily 753- call every night exactly when we are eating dinner so I don't answer. Plus I'm debating to renew. I will probably for support of NIU, but a part of me is getting tired wasting money on four tickets for weeknight games no one wants to join me too. Perhaps it's me and I'm bad company...or perhaps rushing to huskie stadium after work on a Tuesday November night in 30 degree weather is a tough sell. Sorry to open that bag of worms but I am trying to find my excitement
I did get a call but didn't answer. I will probably end up renewing my season tickets for this year but haven't done it yet. I agree with JB04, it's hard to get people to join me on a non-Saturday.
This year the schedule is tough with the weekdays, but I will be upgrading from previous years. This is against common sense, but I am feeling the need to support NIU more than ever right now as the mood is tough right now. A win over BC in the opener will sure be much needed to get some mojo going.

Ditto
The fact is they have kept prices reasonable even if there may be days that will be hard to get to the games.

Well stated. Now is not the time for people to pull support. Yes, the schedule is bad and the weekday games are terrible, but that's what it is for now.

I buy season tickets even though I may make one game a year. I give the rest to family still in the Chicago area. Season tickets count for a tail in the seat.

If the Toledo game at Cell Field had been on a Friday or Saturday I would have made trip from Miami for it.

Yes I'm with you. Instead of feeling excitement & happy anticipation for football season, I am feeling more depressed about it than anything.
That is a foreign feeling for me about Huskie football. Just feeling...sad.

It's not easy to come up with $132 for season tix, plus travel expenses for each game (hotel for a nite, food, gas) plus parking. Plus taking off of work 2 days for weeknight games. Weeknight games cost my son approx. $225 per game when we figure everything in & include lost wages.

East side season tickets are $60. Might be a better option for you this year.
Family Plan on the West Side less than that.

$199 for 4 tickets in A/G comes out to $50 apiece divided by 6 that's $8.33 per ticket per game. Even if you go to only four games it's $12.50 per ticket and still just over $15 per ticket if you only go to 3. You'll pay more than that to go to 1 or 2 games.

Or the $299 Family Plan for 4 tickets in B/F if you want better seats.

Super reasonable plus still get season ticket member benefits.

Same problem. I still pay for season tix each year and have no problem doing so. But no matter how much asking I can never get anyone who wants to come with to these frigid weeknight games. Not even alums. So I'm about a 50/50 split in going to the games by myself or not making the 75-min drive and staying comfy at home.
I left the state of Illinois in 2011, but I still buy season tickets every year and give them to friends and family. I will do that as long as I can, this year being no different.

Thanks for the information, Huskie Info. But...we have been season ticket holders for at least 12 years now. The is no "benefit" for us other than having our same seats each year with the other people in our immediate area that have become friends. Unless we are counting the season ticket holder gifts we have received the past several years - those have been appreciated. That's about it though for us. We can't go to most away games out of state or bowl games so earning "points" means nothing.

I will buy our season tickets this year. But if the trend of only TWO Sat. home games continues beyond this year - I am done. At that point, I will buy individual tickets for the couple of games on Saturdays & will probably be able to move & sit where I want to anyway. I don't see huge attendance records in the future at Huskie Stadium. This just breaks my heart. I LOVE my Huskie football & our student athletes deserve a better schedule & better attendance than what they will be getting. How far down does our program have to fall before something changes with these stupid weekday games? Every person at NIU from President Baker to Sean T. Frazier on down needs to be SCREAMING at the powers that be at the Mid American Conference headquarters. It's college football - it needs to be played on Saturdays. :-(

Admirable of you. I'm sure they appreciate your gift of tickets.

04-rock Nice work Prairie and everyone else stepping up and supporting NIU.
It looks like the Athletics Dept. has really fallen apart since Tim and Kirsten left. Not only is there little news coming from it, but now they're not even responding to e-mails. I wrote to them and asked for information on additional season tickets. No response. Great way to do business, guys!

Just one.

I find this absolutely incredible considering the sorry state finances and attendance are in. I have sent a couple e-mail requests that have remained unanswered.

Because of this - among other things, including the abysmal schedule - I may not be renewing my season tickets this year. I will decide at the very last minute, but I am leaning toward not renewing. If they don't care about and treat their fans as a nuisance or, even worse, a non-entity, why should I renew? I could take or leave football, but I have bought season tickets for many years to support the team and school. But, as long as they are treating me like a piece of crap, I don't care anymore.
