I could see this as possible as the ACC is going to a 20-game basketball schedule in a few years and will have less teams in the tournament if they don't expand because everyone will average one more loss per season in conference. The ACC would just go to a 9-game schedule in football. As far as ND is concerned, one year out of three, they would play 6 games in football against the ACC.
Sure.

Both add value to the Northeast Footprint the ACC is trying to build.

Spice things up with an expansion.
This won't happen, and this thread won't end well.
Sounds like the type of information John Swofford would give to a prominent UVA booster for no reason whatsoever.
Nope....why would they go from 15 to 17 members? There really is only 1 spot available since Notre Dame is contracted to join football to the ACC.

Now I could see Cincy to the ACC and UConn to the Big East but not both to the ACC.

They are not contracted to join the ACC in football. If they join a conference, they would have to join the ACC, but there is NO reason why ND would give up independence. They get 5 ACC games, Navy, USC, Stanford guaranteed every year. That is their conference schedule. As far as basketball, more teams more than likely means more bids which means more tournament credits. Also, because they are going to a 20-game schedule in basketball, they will possibly need more teams to cushion the blow of everyone losing one more conference game on average. If Wake is 18-14 this year instead of 19-13, they don't go dancing.

You seem happy about that. Why?
The ACC isn't going to 9 conference football games & ND will not play 6 ACC games once every three years. You don't need to add teams to go to a 20 game basketball schedule. More teams doesn't necessarily mean more bids but it does guarantee 2 extra shares out of the basketball & football $$$. The tea leaves say no.

How do you get that I am happy about this?
It's funny cause I have a client who's a prominent UVA booster. He said that spreading false rumors to UCONN and Cinci fans at the NCAA tourney was all the rage among ACC alumni. Kind of like those parties where everyone tries to bring the ugliest girl. Just mean.

I don't what he meant, but if I had to guess it's that you'd rather not see Cincinnati and Uconn get into the ACC. Adding those two could be seen as watering down Louisville's great achievement of getting an invite to a "power conference"I could be wrong.
Cheers!

I've always been on record as wanting Cincinnati in the ACC. They bring quality programs, and are very close to Louisville. They would be close to other ACC schools too. And I think, the ACC would elevate them, making the league stronger. It would also add an Ohio recruiting base that would benefit the ACC.

But the idea that the ACC wants to add anyone else right now is just kinda funny to me. There is no evidence that this desire is there. Or that it is necessary.

The ACC had the best football season it's ever had last year. The ACC is continuing a strong run in basketball. These are the two huge money sports. So, why would the ACC need to add anybody else right now?

The ACC is more focused on building it's network, and getting that launched successfully, to worry about adding markets, or other programs to it. This is not the time to continue expanding.
I would welcome Cincy in the ACC with Open arms. They're a great fit.

But it would depend on us and we aren't joining in full anytime soon.
UConn's best shot at a P5 slot would be the B1G.
With Olsen arms? 04-cheers

Well I sure as heck don't see you outraged at nzmorange's take. That's how.

Not to mention you're a Louisville fan, which means you're for UCONN's continued downward spiral into irrelevance.

Why would anyone be outraged by his take -- which is simple, and observatory in nature??

If that outraged you, you may have some issues to dig into.

Hell, the thread didn't even go well on the bone-yard. Linking to another messageboard that somebody talked to an "insider" doesn't make it a rumor, it usually just makes people who believe posts like that look stupid.
