I didn't think we played too bad. Not our best obviously, but it was a pretty evenly played game, and Duluth played a bit better and had a few better breaks. We should be better when back at full strength.

Don't we play a consultation game?
Without Allison on that youthful scoring line with Conrad and McGing we only have ONE scoring line that forces the opposing team to mix up their defensive pairings... Tonight we were literally rolling ONE scoring line that was constantly met with Duluth's most potent D pairing... Didn't have that option to peck away at the Duluth defensive weaknesses...

As the game wore down we were really pushing things through the middle and leaving one D man back there while we tried to keep pressure on offense... and on more than a few occasions we got caught... their 4th goal was a result of trying to catch back up on a bad mixup in the neutral zone....

Missing Dries was like missing the last two cylinders on that big block V8 in a drag race... still had some power... but nowhere near the timing and power we COULD have had....

Time to regroup.... get some youngsters in there tomorrow and keep some legs for the NCAA...

No just a consolation game !
I don't think we played well tonight, considering what I have scene out of this team this year

But I do think we out played UNM 5x5 for the better part of three periods. The two power play goals UMD got, were about as puck luck as you can get. Takes those out of the equation, WMU wins this 2-1.

Considering how we have several key guys out of the line up and a couple other trying to play through their injuries, people need to be very incouraged about this Bronco team going into next weekend.

I only disagree here because we absolutely crapped the bed in a 5-3 advantage early... UMD took advantage of our mistakes. Once they got on top 3-2 they locked us down... Blacker gave up a bad 3rd goal... but it put us in bad position for the rest of the game... Give UMD credit.. they handled us tonight... shorthanded or not.

we did not do a good job on the 5-3, credit UMD.

I do not agreed that they handled us. We out skated them, out hit them, out chanced them, puck spent most of the time in the UMD zone. Take away the two puck luck goals that land right on players sticks with a wide open net, Broncos are playing in the championship tomorrow

Not sure who I want to win, DU or North Dakota. I'd like the Sioux fans to be present in a game vs DU, but I think I pairwise, we would like to see North Dakota Win tonight
UND up on DU 1-0 with under 10 to go.

I DO think that WMU did out skate UMD for much of the game... but when it counted, when the puck needed to be put on net and shots needed to be made to beat the goaltender it seemed like UMD was getting those openings... We just seemed to be skating in and rotating in the corners and not getting many chances... we really didn't challenge the UMD goaltender or get any odd man chances on the goalie down the stretch... UMD DID... and they made them count when they needed to...

We missed Dries... we miss that motor any game he's not out there...

UND is putting some serious hits on this DU team tonight... if they can hold on to force us to play DU... they are going to be slow tomorrow... they are getting pounded physically tonight...
My honest assessment of tonights game comes down to one team just being in the right place at the right time and one team just not getting many breaks... both teams looked darn capable of winning the contest... As BroncoHeard has been mentioning... WMU held the puck for MUCH of the game as it worked from the middle of the second to the end of the game... they pushed the puck... but as I eluded to, just couldn't get it in an area near the net to make some noise in the 3rd...

Blacker played well... but gave up a bit of a short side slap shot that beat him straight up from the just inside the right dot... and that made it 3-2 and gave UMD the opportunity to shut it down defensively the entire 3rd...

WMU is playing some GREAT hockey right now... that 5-2 score... not indicative of the game in any way... those teams were battling... and WMU was winning most of the battles, just not the ones that ended with pucks in the net... One of the things that UMD did well that really had us on our heals... they won quite a few face offs...

Looks like we are playing Denver for the consolation game... UND did work tonight... 1-0
Despite losing to UMD we got some nice Pairwise help from NoDak, BC, and Penn State.......back to #4. A win tonight certainly makes us a #1 seed. Anyone know if there is a scenario where losing to Denver still keeps us #4 in the Pairwise?

We probably won't see Dries or Allison tonight. Has anyone heard anything specific regarding Allison? Is Dienes done for the year?
I thought our puck-handling was not up to what we have been doing recently, in both zones. We seems a split-second slow on making decisions where to pass the puck and that made their fore-checking effective. In fact, we seemed a split-second slow on a lot of decisions-almost like we were under the influence of jet lag or something.

As for their 3rd goal, wasn't that the one where Iafallo skated in alone? I thought our defenseman-whoever that was-badly misplayed the puck allowing Iafollo to blast an uncontested slapshot from 20 feet in front of Blacker. How do you stop a shot like that? Don't agree it was a 'bad goal' per Blacker, it was bad defense.

I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer, we played hard with several key players out of the lineup-but I've seen us play better recently. Rather disappointing.

I missed the goal by us that was disallowed. Fair decision or did we get screwed?

Their win was earned, they played better. But take away the open netter and give us the disallowed goal and the real score should have been 4-3, which accurately reflected the outcome.
I'm thinking of buying the NCHC.TV day pass to watch the game on a smart TV. Does this work pretty well?
We beat Denver, I think it's a pretty much given that we get a #1 seed.

Let's go Broncos!!
