Interesting takes from our two basketball coaches regarding performance and expectations:

Fizdale: “What am I supposed to do? Settle for mediocrity and stay in a .500 mode and not do anything and just be OK with that?” Fizdale said. “That’s the problem with the whole image of this group. That’s been OK and if we’re underdogs and we don’t win it, that’s OK. No. I won’t settle for that. I’ll continue to shuffle until I find something that works best that gives us the best chance at holding the trophy. And if people don’t like it, they can kiss my (butt).”

Tubby: "We win 19 games, and it’s just an interesting scenario that we have here that I’ve really never been a part of. Those are things I’m adjusting to as well, Just because it’s different. I’ve not coached at Memphis. That’s one thing. You know, and then you’ve got a flavor here just of expectations. … We were picked to finish fifth this year and we finished fifth.”

How long has Fiz been here?

He certainly has a different view of exceeding vs. meeting expectations.
very interesting contrast

alas, neither coach has the talent remotely close to winning a championship

I have no idea, I don't follow Grizzles basketball.

Is he winning? Good for him.
that's really funny Bucc
College coaches play more of a role in building a roster and program so he is going to call for patience. A Nba coach basically just has to play who the Front office gives them and make it work.

Why? Not everyone follows the NBA, I certainly don't, not since Jordan retired.

I don't live in Memphis, why would I care about the Grizzles? I didn't go to school at the University of Grizzles.

Most of the NBA is hard to watch, very little team ball.

Poop, you growling again. Is that what Grizzles' fans do to show support for their team?

Yeah.....and one seems to care and one doesn't.

Sure, but you can still do better than shrug your shoulders after a loss and say "well, what can you do?" or look back at the season and say "we were picked to finish fifth and we finished fifth."

Surely, Fizdale knows the Grizz team has no chance of winning a trophy, but he's not sitting here telling folks, "C'mon, why are you upset who I'm playing...it's not like we're going to beat the Warriors and Cavs anyway."

Just like Cali! REALLY! I lived in Michigan near the coast for a short time.
I think they both suck and I'm a season ticket holder to both...
They are similar in that neither one can win a game right now. They are different in that one of them doesn't wear clown glasses.
