Sounds like the men's awards and all conference teams will be announced soon. Here is the women's winners announced this morning.
Last season, ladies were announced Monday & men came down Tuesday. Less than 24 hours until the outrage begins. Hahaha
Oh look I was right, Barnes got Coach of the Year. Not sure Baker deserved player of the year.

So, this is what Aggie fans felt like when Martez won POY a couple years ago! Haha.
Still trying to figure out how Oscar didn't win Freshman of the year when he lead in almost every statistical category 03-banghead03-banghead
Trayvon Palmer not getting anything is disappointing, too. Kid had a solid year. I would have put him on a team before Matt Smith. Oh well.

Welcome to our world. How about Barnes winning COY? I would have rather seen Weir or Majerle win that award. Barnes lost 3 out of 4 last year to NMSU and GCU yet wins COY last year. Why does the WAC have such a hard on for Barnes? Anyway, I'm happy for Ian but I agree Russell should have got it and Chuha should have been 1st team instead of Braun. However, across the board pretty fair overall. Congrats Ian Baker, WAC Player of the Year! BTW, womens was an Aggie as well. That must sting GCU little brothers!05-stirthepot

Team results influence these awards. It's just a fact, unless your Rod Barnes who will be named COY if he finishes in the top 3 in the WAC.

I agree. Frayer was freshman of the year by far. He got screwed big time.

How did he do in conference play specifically compared to Kavas? Kavas broke out in WAC play

The only category where Kavas was better than Oscar was in PPG, other than that, Oscar put up the better numbers even in conference play.

Kavas was definitely a big difference maker for us. But I agree it should be Oscar. Maybe its simply just how much of a difference he made for his team single handily
I know GCU fans are in a uproar about Ian winning and comparing it to the year Martez won it over Pascal but that comparison is ludicrous. Pascal was a 1st round NBA draft pick player and Martez was on a team that sucked so his averages were all inflated because he took a million shots. Martez was never an NBA quality player and picking him over Pascal was nuts. If you compare Russell and Baker's stats and averages the difference is negligible. I don't think Russell or Baker will make the NBA because of their size although Russell is quicker. Basil is quicker than Russell and is probably in the same level as Baker and Russell. So quit drinking the purple nectar and whining about Russell getting cheated because the race was close. Remember, that 42 point game vs. Louisville meant nothing. That was a GCU's posters argument about Weir not being COY. Congrats to all the players and remember, Russell is not that much better than Baker.05-nono
Russell deserved the award. Ian Baker deserved the award.

Ian Baker could have put up 20+ a night, but the difference is New Mexico State had 5 guys finish the season averaging double digits. Grand Canyon only had two guys finish the season averaging double digits.
I'll tell you what it was. It was that damned Electoral College! Or the Russians! BLAME THE RUSSIANS!!!

That might be the most coherent thing I've ever seen you post, Frank. It probably the most accurate assessment I've read today. Thanks for sharing that perspective.
