I'm on record as saying I think he's going to be a really solid college basketball player. However, Memphis (and plenty of others) have yet to offer. I have no idea why...maybe his height? That's ridiculous to me! Given our need for bodies, there is no reason he shouldn't hold a Memphis offer.

Got some Twitter buzz last night (23 & 22 in a win over Brighton) ... just wanted to start a thread about him so 80sTiger can bump it in 3 years when he's tearing it up for Arkansas.

what year?

I would take this guy in a second. Might not have the measurables, but he's a baller.
Is this one of the kids Caulkins was talking about this morning? He was talking about Tubby zeroing in on certain guys and overlooking similar talent right here in his own backyard and I think he mentioned a kid at Cordova that we haven't offered yet but probably should have.

Probably 6'5"...maybe 6'6". But has a really good frame and an elite motor. Good athleticism makes up for his lack of height.

For EVERY kid they have offered, there is a very similar local, often several.

It's very mind boggling.

Wasn't listening, but my guess is he was talking about Tyler Harris, the Cordova point guard.
I'm not saying he MUST recruit locally. But he better win if he doesn't. Because if he's losing AND these guys are at SEC, ACC, Big 12 schools putting up numbers... that'll expedite his exit.
The Cam Payne effect.
He is a junior this year...

Hopefully based on those videos he cleaned up his handle and his shot.

Right now he looks like a poor mans Adonis.

No, he talked about Tyler Harris but not in this context. I think it was probably Brown, said the kid was an amazing athlete but might need some polish and was the exact type of kid that would benefit from playing under an experienced coach like Tubby.

Also, I think he said that we HAVE offered Harris. This was definitely someone that we have not offered as that was the context of the discussion.

Yep. I think most know it too.

The Pastner malaise and underlying anger and whatever else aren't going to go away if Tubby goes 22-12 and Tyler Harris is at UT, TJ Moss is at TCU and Rod Brown is at Ole Miss and they are all having decent seasons.

Just like watching Chiozza and LeRon Black and JW3 all be serviceable DI players right now. I mean, people weren't just pissed at Pastner for missing Stokes/Skal and then running off guys. It was that he also had plenty of other misses that could've been solid rotation players at the DI level.

Would he want to play the 3 or the 4?

If he wants to play the 4, sign him up.

If he wants to play the 3, they may not have the time to wait on him to develop, unless he quickly develops over the summer as you said.
Black and JW3 were the higher ranked players but Chiozza hurt the most because it was the biggest position of need at the time and the consensus was that we could have had him if we had offered sooner. I think we went into that season with no real point guard on the roster. The first game of that season we struggled to even bring the ball up the court.

You start him as a 4 and try to let him develop his game over 4 years. If he can play some 3 by his Junior/Senior year then fine. But he has real potential as a high-level contributor as a flex-4 at the college level IMO.
They didn't try to flip 6-8, 230 Jalen Dupree either and he would've helped this year. Maybe they don't know that Cordova is right next to Memphis?

BTW, Dupree up to 5 ppg and 4 rpg and his mpg are up to 15 as he acclimates to college.

Back to back double doubles in the past week or so too.

Get hired in April, fly to Memphis and first order is to flip Jalen Dupree, Nate Hoover, Jaylen Fisher/Darrell Brown and sign Jemerrio Jones.

Rotation big man, rotation shooter, rotation guard and jack of all trades forward.

This team would be 26-4 at worst.

At worst, get Fisher and Jones, who were both unsigned and available.

Probably be 24-6 instead.

And you didn't have to leave the city to put the team together.
