I was at Detroit Metropolitan Airport a week ago Monday and as I arrived I saw this very tall man who looked familiar. An EMU basketball player came to mind. Devonte Adams? No, that's a football player. Oh well, I couldn't think of his name.

My family and I got to the gate for our flight to Chicago and the man sat down right across from us. I mentioned to my wife that I think he played ball at EMU.

When I got up to go to the restroom she decided to ask him. And he confirmed yes, he played at EMU. We made some small talk. He's playing for the Salt Lake team in the NBA Developmental league. He said he liked it, but it wasn't much money. I asked if he gave foreign leagues any thought. Yes, but somewhere in the short conversation he said he wants a year or two more in the developmental league.

DaShonte wasn't much for talking. I'd have liked to find out more about his experience at EMU and plans for the future, but it didn't happen.

We boarded the flight after DeShonte and I noticed that this very tall man was sitting in coach. But at least he was in an emergency exit aisle.
