Was reading up on tourney seeds and everyone takes a shot at SMU's SOS. This is where SOS can be hot or miss. For one the AAC was a bit down, but it's not like SMU put together and ECU or Tulane OOC schedule, they just had bad luck where teams have not played up to their normal potential. What is wrong with this OOC headliners:

Pitt
Michigan
USC
Boise St.
TCU
Stanford
Link? Their OOC SOS is fine (it was #59). The problem they have, in terms of a cap on their seeding, is that they lost 3 of those games and only have one truly good win away from home (at Houston)...07-coffee3
Yep,

I think our schedule was fine, the problem was losing 3 of those games.

As of now, SMU had no "bad" losses, but did not make any noise either out of the conference.

Early in the year, SMU had to figure out their identity on what type of team they were. Although balanced scoring sounds nice on paper, it takes a while for a team to gel and understand that there is no clear leader.

It is what it is, it is our fault for not winning 3 of those games listed and we have to accept and deal with the consequences.
I think SMU is gonna make some major noise come tourney time.

Cinci will too, but lack of a pure scorer could hurt them. We'll see! Hoping another team gets in, UConn or Houston.

I think Evans qualifies as a pure scorer when you watch him. I think UC's issue is inconsistent PG play from Caupain. When he's playing well, we run through teams. When he has a miserable day, we look lost. We'll go as far as he will take us.

True, hope he is ready come tournament time!

Agreed and it took us through our OOC to find our identity. No true 1 or 5 took us a while to figure out roles. We have that now, this team is totally different from the first 10 games of the season. Our biggest issue now is the short bench, any foul trouble and we are toast. But that's also why we foul so little, we understand that. Until SMU does something in the big show, we will get no respect.
Finding our identity, as a team without positions, was significantly aided when Froling (who couldn't play that style) decided to transfer.

Pitt (Neutral site win)
Michigan (Neutral site loss)
USC (Road loss)
Boise St. (Road loss)
TCU (,Home court win)
Stanford (Home court win)

RPI basically works like this:

0.6 pt credit for home wins
1.0 pt credit for neutral site wins
1.4 pt credit for road wins

Lesser points above for losses.

SMU did not have 1 true non conf road win this year...As you lost your only 2 true road games.
