March madness officially kicks off tonight with the QFs of the Atlantic Sun tournament.

I know we are not going to be watching many scoreboards this year as are 3 wins from the NCAA and 1 loss from the NIT but this is by far one of the best months in sports. Anyone else going to watch any others?

Win or go home!
Has Princeton locked up the Ivy League yet? If not, they can take the autobid with a win over Harvard on Friday night.
I went and watched Belmont the other week against Morehead State and I do not see anyone in that conference beating Belmont for the OVC crown. I am sure if they make it they will be a trendy pick for an upset as they are a team that loves to shoot the 3 ball.

Nobody will want to hear it here, but the ACC tournament should be a spectacle and an absolute war. If I were a top tier team I think I might want to lose pretty early in that one to be rested and ready to go for the tournament. I think enduring that conference will really take a toll on the victor.
I love watching the conference tournaments where everything is on the line. The P5 jobs where you are only playing for a seed, if that, is simply an extension of the regular season. Agree solo, this is a great week.

Ivy league finally caved and has a tournament this year
Florida Gulf Coast is in the same boat we are. 3 wins from NCAA, 1 loss from NIT. Hope to see some of their game tonight but I have a 7 PM meeting. On ESPN3

No doubt. ACC tournament will be insane this year

Oh wow didn't know that. That's the right call. These kids handle their business academically all year long. What's one more week of basketball?

Agreed. Its a four team tournament too so its still got its own unique Ivy League twist on it.
Florida Gulf Coast gets the 1 seeds off to a good start
Campbell win last night to advance to the Big South tournament at Winthrop on Thursday
I like the way the Southern Conference handles their NIT bid. They have a three way tie for 1st and will determine the NIT bid by which team advances further in the conference tournament. Do not know if there are any tiebreaker rules.

Go Campbell! I know the tournament is only in the Quarterfinals, but you can't rule out a cinderella run. It'd be a nice feather in the cap to say we beat them in a year they reached the NCAA Tournament.

How do they determine who gets the # 1 seed in the tournament itself?
Western Michigan is on a 7 game win streak. Akron has lost 3 of their last 4 including 2 home games. The MAC will be an interesting tournament

I'm not surprised. The posters over on their board were optimistic about their future despite a rough first 2/3 of the year. WMU has some decent young talent, and it was about time they started to put it all together.
Not sure how SoCon determines its tiebreaker for #1 in tourney but they don't automatically get the NIT spot

So if any of those three teams win the socon tournament none of them get the auto NIT bid? If so that's dumb

Update: since it was a tie the team of those 3 that goes tha furthest without winning the tournament gets the NIT bid.

That's a smart way to do it
Vermont cruising in their qf

They are a potential first round sleeper
OVC tournament starts tonight. Only top 8 qualify. Eastern Kentucky finished 11th. That win turned out to be a dud
