WCU Message Board
Two hard fought games have earned an advantage for us - we need to win out to keep that advantage.

Look, this team does not match up well either physically, athletically or statistically. But they will scrap and fight, and, unlike Chattanooga, won’t quit. We need to be ready to take care of business so we can use our bench.

Their only 3 conference wins are twice over The Citadel by 4 and 5 (84-80 and 100-95) and at home over Wofford by 6 (68-62). They lost to everybody else. OOC they beat High Point, which UNCG did not. They also beat Appy State and lost by 2 at Asheville.

In most statistical categories, they are 7th or worse in conference. They do well only in offensive rebounds (11.2, 2nd in conference, compared to ETSU’s 6th in conference 9.9). That’s evidence of their scrappiness, but also of the fact that they shoot only .408 from the field, while ETSU shoots a first in conference .516 (7th in the country on the season). There are a lot more offensive rebounds for the Catamounts to chase. Thus ETSU grabs a higher percentage of available offensive rebound (.314, 2nd in conference, to .305, 4th in conference). They are also not bad in defensive rebound percentage (.715, 4th in conference, behind ETSU’s 1st in conference .747).

They have upped their per game scoring from 51 points at our previous meeting, but only to 62.5, still the worst in conference. They have a -13.2 point margin, also worst in conference. They shoot .408 from the field (2nd worst in conference) and allow opponents to shoot .474, 3rd worst. They shoot .332 from 3 in the SoCon, but only make 5 per game, worst in conference. The Bucs have increased their 3 point shooting to .378 and make 7.6 per game. The Catamounts give up a 3rd worst in conference .372 from 3 to opponents.

They have neither much length nor muscle, but manage to stay close to opponents rebounding with a margin of -0.9. Compare to -0.6 for Chattanooga. That’s still just 8th in conference. Turnover margin is -1.31. They scrap, fight and try to win ugly.

Time for a road trip.

I concur ! I made the drive to Chattanooga last Saturday and going to Cullowhee today! It's great to be back in the SoCon.
I am heading down there for the game as well. No excuses (unless u actually have some) for the shortest road game trip, to miss it.
Hearing that a Gold Out in Cullowhee is being requested.

Seems they would have gone with Blue since Western has gold in their colors.

I've actually tried to spearhead the gold out. Damn Rod you're right...didn't even think of that.
They will literally have 150 fans there. Colors won't matter.

But I'll be in gold just like @ETSUHoopsNation on Twitter asked us to.

GO BUCS.

I am going to retire my gold and blue polo I have worn last few seasons, getting ragged around the edge but they were winning a lot more than losing so kept wearing it.
Should get some Black shirts with say a Gold shield/with the E in middle. That way everyone knows they are ETSU fans but the Black would really stand out in the other teams gym. a Big solid block of black in the visitors section would show up well on TV (the stream).

I think at wcu you would just blend in with the black tarps covering most of the seats in Cullowhee lol.

Maybe, I was just thinking very few teams have Black has a primary color, so it is less likely the home team fans would be wearing it. Also not as likely the home team would have a black out day, think how lots of black shirts would have looked at Chattanooga during their white out.
Went to the Whee last year. Its truly pathetic how little fan support they get. I'll be surprised if we don't have more fans there than they do.
I sure hope Desonta is all right. Coach just spoke of him being injured. Sure hope he heals up fast.
What's wrong with him?
He's sick. Not an injury thank goodness
