I need to do a much better job of booking travel for USC than I did for the Cotton Bowl.

My sister lives in San Diego so I'm thinking of flying out and visiting her for a few days first. Please help me make economical choices! Any tips or advanced travel packages through WMU?

If you're looking for econimical choices, don't choose a WMU travel package.

Good point. boy did I screw up using Orbitz for the bowl game. Should I hand it all over to a legit travel agent?

WMU ticket office has said they will have some tickets. Will be first offered to season ticket holders on renewal.
I have not heard anything about a WMU travel package.

Parking near LA Coliseum canbe expensive. $50-$100+.
If the NFL schedules a game there on Sunday, plan on motel prices jumping for the holiday weekend.

I've worked in travel. I would not recommend a full service travel agent, unless you're trying to go somewhere that requires special visas, or requires several legs of travel to get to your destination. They use very similar platforms to Priceline/Expedia/Orbitz/Travelocity.

I recommend shopping with those sites to see what the best prices are, and then booking directly with the provider instead of the third party travel providers. Customer service is a lot easier if your flight is booked directly with the airline/hotel/car rental company than doing it with an intermediary.
+1 to everything ElFanatico just said, with one small quibble:

For hotels, Priceline Express Deals are your friend.
I'll be in LA for sure, mainly because I have family there. I can't wait!!
But here's a question for all Bronco fans... do you think we'll be ranked in the top 25 going into that game -- AND -- with a new coach and no Corey Davis, what are the chances we can keep the final score respectable?

Go Broncos!!
No chance we'll be top 25. I'd be surprised if we have votes.

I'd guess we lose by around 20, which I think would be respectable. USC is absolutely loaded.

Only 20 would be fortunate.

This USC team is better than the over-rated MSU and OSU teams we played in '15.

Add the travel effect + new coaches + new QB and...oh-oh. 04-jawdrop

We should be competitive with MSU the following week, however.
I have a million and a half Delta frequent flyer miles, so not an issue. 02-13-banana

Travellin' Man!

If you only knew. I've used that many as well.

I agree with the MSU part, but not the OSU part. OSU only lost 1 game that whole year (MSU in the downpour), and crushed @UM + Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl. ND only had 2 losses before facing OSU -- Clemson & Stanford, each by only 2pts. So OSU was no slouch. :) I think MSU's D was Real Good, but overall, yeah, I would say one should expect USC to be better than MSU '15. MSU with their D was the type who could beat anyone, but also struggle to run away with a competitive team sometimes.

It would be. Under 3 TDs would be great (even though it's still 3 possessions). I just don't want it to be over 4 TDs -- which very well may happen.

Dunno. So much is so up in the air, for both teams, it'd be like trying to predict a game for the year after against each other. Dunno!
Vs. USC I'll be watching and hoping for the ability to get some first downs. With a strong O-line and several good backs, we should be able to make progress on the ground, enough to eat some time, maybe some field goal drives minimum. Combine that with a D turnover, and bend don't break, we might be able to keep the game under a 24 point spread.

First game, long trip, new QB, new coaches, I can't see keeping the game close though. 42-10 or 13 would be good for starters.

Key is working for time of possession, and not giving up quick strikes.
We won't be playing a bend but don't break style of defense. I bet we gamble. A lot.

Post of the year nomination.
Four-hour drive to The Coliseum for me, so looking forward to it!
I'll be heading out there.

This will mark my 14th BCS/P5 'road trip' location to see the Broncos play football. The tally started in 1998 at Vanderbilt.

Until USC, the furthest west I've gone to see any Bronco sporting event was when we played UNLV for hoops. You can't beat Vegas and Broncos in one weekend. Actually saw it snow on the Strip.

Pretty much nailed what I was thinking.

Hope we have enough OL and RB strength to do some good clock chewing, keep USC's O off the field for decent stretches of time.

I'd be fine with a "moral victory" loss here if the final score is reasonable (say within 3 TDs), given the circumstances. All in all keeping expectations well in check. New coaching staff and our passing game will be greener than a leprechaun.
