Quote:Steven Mnuchin was confirmed as U.S. Treasury secretary, filling the role of chief spokesman for the dollar and steward for the Trump administration’s economic priorities.

The former Goldman Sachs banker won in a 53-47 Senate vote on Monday in which only one Democrat broke ranks and supported Mnuchin.

After several delays in the Senate vetting process, Mnuchin is expected to push ahead quickly with top administration goals to dismantle financial regulations and slash taxes. Almost immediately, he’ll be immersed in preparing for the expiration of the debt limit suspension and his first meeting of G-20 finance ministers and central bank governors in Germany, both coming up next month.

Oh the weeping and gnashing of teeth for the Senate left...
Oh, goody. Another Democrat hold breath and stomp feet vote.

Do people have any idea how ####### rare nearly straight partisan votes on cabinet confirmations were prior to Chuck Schumer?

Bye bye Obama liberal spending program bs. Hello more money in US workers take home pay.
This is an area where Trump is too far from the general desire of the people.

Cutting taxes is important, but it isn't the long and the short of why he was elected.
I know it's going to spark a lot of hyperbolic opposition from the left, but if we want to create the jobs that will revitalize our middle class, the place we need tax cuts is at the top, for both corporations and individuals. We extract a bigger share of our tax dollars from the "rich" than any other country. So investment and jobs go overseas. This is not complicated.

What needs to be brought to the tax discussion is an understanding of how the rest of the world taxes, compared to how we do it. If we were trying to drive jobs offshore, we wouldn't change a thing.
I know a couple of regressive posters on these here boards who'll be most upset with this. I may not be able to sleep tonight knowing this.
