So the idea of prospective students playing with the marching band at the spring game won't be a thing. My son was actually kinda excited to do that. Well we will schedule our visit around it

People pay to go to OSU's spring game. And they still fill the stadium.
Toledo's is free and barely draws anything.
People need to stop comparing Toledo to OSU/UM/ND.

We draw better than Maryland, Rutgers, and the likes...isn't that worth it? Not many programs attract fans on both sides of the stadium for its spring game.

NO WE DO NOT!! Those games are telivised and watched by the millions.

Quote:2014 spring game attendance rankings: ...
Maryland's announced attendance of 8,319 ranks right below Vanderbilt, but above Wisconsin, Purdue, Arizona, Illinois, Minnesota, Duke, Baylor and Oklahoma State, among others.

... And on the Big10 network replayed umpteen times!! Alabamas spring game outdrew all NHL playoff games. We aren't on TV and get good crowds if the weather is nice (good meaning 8k). You don't BUILD a fanbase from the spring game... that's just rediculous.

... our crowds look just as good as the one in your picture, plus our band sits on the other side making it look even better than Marylands.

I don't think that anyone is saying that...but you certainly take away an opportunity to grow your fanbase from taking away the spring game. You're also taking away a great opportunity for the diehard fanbase to support the program. You're ultimately losing an important connection with a huge aspect of the program, the fans.

When the league began scheduling mid week games it became obvious that we aren't that important.
The spring game provides me an opportunity to evaluate a few players for myself. I specifically remember watching Chester Taylor and Michael Roberts for the first time, and thinking UT Really had something special there. When the question about Ely and Woodside head to head was going on, I was comfortable with the Ely decision after the spring game. Obviously, Woodside was a different point then. Still the question was out there.

I can't guarantee I will be there, so I can't be too critical. Does it build a fan base? My wonderful wife would be bored out of her mind, but watching UT beat Arkansas in Little Rock was cool for her. Being relevant in D1 football does more to build a fan base. The Spring games feeds the already passionate fan.

I can agree to that, but it isn't implemented to gain fans for the Fall per say... it'd be nice if it did??? But that isn't realistic unless we did some cool skills competitions, played another school, or were televised.
Spring football article up on utrockets website, including a link to the spring prospectus.

Notice that Gibson is no longer on the roster. Seems to have transfered to a JUCO down in Mississippi. Well that's on less QB on the roster.
i hope some of these big boys are ready to play d line
One thing I enjoy about the Spring Game is at least we know Toledo will win.

The thing I hate about it is that UT always loses.
Felder on roster now... they probably had overlooked his absence. Hopefully he is as good as advertised. Those voracious Norwood followers probably need to temper their hopes as Candall make no mention of him in his linebacker capsule. Nice video of new db coach Poteat on the Blade site.

Yeah, spring game and playing BG, are both guaranteed wins.
