Jags beat Alabama State 8-0 in 5 to improve to 5-0. Savannah Mayo hit a dinger off our new scoreboard to walk-off. This team looks much better than last year, but the competition hasn't been quite as good yet. We'll be tested in Tuscaloosa this week to see if we are really any better.
TXST beats ACU 8-3 to avenge earlier loss.

started a freshman pitcher 3 games and got thumped. dont know if something is wrong with clakley or the coach felt like getting some innings for the new pitcher was more important than a good showing against the last three teams. not a good start tho.

Nope, not hiding. I had stated in an earlier post I was surprised about how highly we were ranked in conference and nationally as we're replacing 61 HR's and 193 RBI. I don't think you do that early in the season without some hiccups. I'm more concerned about all the unearned runs and HR's given up by the pitching staff. We did start a true freshman in two games, but we need to keep the ball in the park for which we've historically done a pretty good job. The two tournaments we're hosting this year are atypical as we'll play six games in each one which can make for a long weekend with basically doubleheaders three days in a row.
I'm actually more concerned about what improvements we can make in the next week in preparation for hosting Alabama for three games this weekend.
