This Thursday the ODU LM host the Middle Tennessee St Blue Raiders. They are currently riding a four game winning streak. That is our longest winning streak of the season. This is a key game in the standings and it's a match-up of last year's Con USA title game.
The Blue Raiders are lead by head coach Rick Insell. Insell is entering his 12th season at the helm and has taken his team to 9 NCAA appearances and two WNITs. To sum up everything, he has had a lot of success at the high school and college level. He is in five different HOFs. So pretty good....

The non-conference schedule is brutal. It sort of reminds of what coach Larry would schedule back in the day. For those that don't follow women's basketball, the Blue Raiders win over Tulane is huge. Tulane has wins over NC State (17-6, RPI 36) and Auburn (15-9, RPI 25).

Johnson and Petty form a powerful 1-2 punch. If you look at Con USA stats only, Johsnon is averaging 23.3 ppg and Petty has 20.0 ppg. They average 60% of the team's total points. Louro is a three point machine, about 89% of what she shots is behind the arc. But you have to guard against Sissom and Petty as well. This is a well balance, well coached team. Everybody has a role. They shot the ball well.

Rebounding will be one of the keys to the game. ODU will have to play strong defense, focusing on top scorers who can light it up. Also if you look at just Con USA stats, MTSU is averaging just 14 turnovers per game. That is great. ODU will have limit there turnovers since the Blue Raiders are taking care of the ball.
Hopefully a big crowd will come out to watch the game. Most visiting teams that come to Ted look into the stands and say, "what a big crowd". (I have no idea if that is true...but let's pretend) However Middle Tennessee St will look into the crowd and say, "it's kind of small". ODU averages 2,403 fans per game at home. The Blue Raiders average 3,789 fans at home. This is a huge game for ODU. If we win today, it will send a statement to the rest of the league. ODU is ready.
