In 2015 the Big East football membership will include Boise State, Central Florida, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Houston, Louisville, Memphis, Navy, Rutgers, San Diego State, Southern Methodist and South Florida.

In 2015, the league will have 17 basketball teams: Central Florida, Cincinnati, Connecticut, DePaul, Georgetown, Houston, Louisville, Marquette, Memphis, Notre Dame, Providence, Rutgers, St. John's, Seton Hall, Southern Methodist, South Florida and Villanova.

What is so fascinating is that FB is pretty much is on a level playing field with the exception of Louisville and Boise State has been really good, but after losing Chris Petersen to UWash, they have sort of faded a bit. Otherwise, Rutgers left (yawn) and San Diego State left (okay, sort of a downer I guess). Houston has raised their game big time since 2011, as have we. UC lost some luster after losing Brian Kelly, but otherwise, the Big East STILL would have NOT been an automatic qualifier in the BCS with or without Louisville and/or Boise State.

Basketball, on the other hand, losing 'Nova, Georgetown and Notre Dame, Louisville is a freaking killer. Now you see why UCONN is so depressed. Their FB will never be very good, but their BB was an absolute beast and they NEEDED the BE as it stood to continue. I am not sure that UCONN will be able to keep up its level with Kevin Ollie. Calhoun is a freakin' legend and he built UCONN from the ground up.
