Or more accurately this story is one big backhanded compliment.

IMO, we're not pretty on paper but we win games, are in sole possession of third place in the nation's toughest league and are #4 in pairwise, the most important ranking. We do the small things right and are well positioned for a miraculous NCAA playoff victory.
We are an opportunistic team. We some very good talent, but not the great talent the longstanding college hockey powers attract. We need another year or two of rock-solid recruiting before we can claim that status. We're getting there.
More talk on WMU on USCHO. It's nice reading this discussion without Paula there to kiss the Big Ten's ass like she does every week.

The best part about the CCHA collapse is that Paula went to cover the Big Ten. It's what she really wanted, after all.

The guy's a douche. He tries to come across as honest and insightful when all he's really doing is being a dickhead. He's the only Puck Daddy writer I can't stand.
I had a conversation with him online and he definitely came across as a sanctimonious dickhead.

When a wide assortment of sports happy folks online think you're an A-hole as a sports writer you better be looking for a new job. Nancy Armour take note.
I was less offended by his story than his attitude afterward.
Hahaha. Charm is offended by someone's attitude. Lol
Your problem is you're factually incorrect.

I read enough of the article that this guy bases most of his story on stats. Wonder how many actual WMU games he's watched this season? Probably very few if any.
This team is a total turnaround from last season in arguably the toughest conference in the country. This guy probably doesn't even know N. Dakota won the National Championship last year.
He's probably a CMU grad with a vendetta. I could find a guy hanging out in a bar that could write better.
He does make some and i say some valid points but is a mile out on most . The size thing is correct but he has not seen any games to know most of the big big size does not play much or does not dress at all. He cracks out butts about the non conference games but still has Penn ranked fourth himself and their non conference games are against way poorer teams and 2 of the 6 teams in their conference are well below CC the last place team in our conference. As far as all the stats he quotes there are many stats that you can use to make a case for what you are trying to prove but you can get just as many to prove the opposite . One bad game vs Denver giving up 7 goals and minus 5 differential sways things quite a bit. He does not mention we have played 2 games against the #1 team 4 games vs #2, 2 games vs # 9. Penn state has not played Minnesota or Wisconcin which are the top two teams in conference and played Ohio twice and faired poorly. So he can spew all he wants but when i read other blogs, posts nobody busts our balls about the schdule cause they know what conference we play in and there is no argument you can possibly use to say the NCHC best top to bottom. Hockey East has some top but over half are basement dwellers
Lazy writer. He sees WMU @ #4 pairwise, automaticly assumes they are not a legit top 4 team and then tries to find some facts that will support his position. Yet he was off the mark with many of his facts.

Happy to see WMU get some ink, but I thought the writer missed a golden opportunity to do a good story about "why/how" WMU has risen in the pairwise

He's not the only writer, here's another from a hockey east/ boston bias writer:

Here's another article from before this past weekend series with UNO. Not terribly in depth reporting, but still, nice to read positive stuff.

The guy is a douche who does the exact same thing in every single team feature he writes.

That's the story this year with the Broncos, one the other two Lacey writers failed to look into. The Bronco Hockey success story has the potential to exceed the football success story
