Northern reaches in like crazy and rarely gets called for it
61-54 Huskies, timeout Toledo, 7:29 to play.
Lauf fouls out with 7 minutes to play.
66-57 NIU, under 5 to go, timeout Huskies.
NIU 70 UT 61, 2:30 to play. Rockets have cut the lead to 4-5 multiple times only to have the Huskies bump it out to 9. Toledo getting destroyed on the boards, much like the Kent St game. When does Garber come back?
NIU 70 UT 66, 1:16 to play, UT ball, 9 secs on shot clock. Timeout Toledo.
Rockets cut it to 2, Sanford going to line for 1. 41.1 secs to play, timeout huskies.
It's amazing the open 3 looks we give up
Wow, that was clutch...
Unbelievably poor sequence of events by this team.
Rockets lose 74-72.
such an up and down performance. williams played sick and it showed. really tough breaks at the end. sanford rattles out the 2 ft and then it looks like the refs blow the call at the end and call jonjon for touching the sideline when he was open for a game winning 25 footer. really shouldn't have been in that position. too many stretches of sloppy play. NIU shot very well for them.
The Rockets are a bubble off. They lost the game on the boards with the Huskies killing them on the offensive glass. Add in the turn overs with lapses in energy and the Rockets give away the game.
Tough loss. But that's a game a good team wins at home.

Look...do I think the Rockets are terrible? Of course not. Like many of you, I personally witnessed the debacle when Gene Cross was here, so I've seen terrible. I will always be grateful that TK revived the program from being one of the worst in the country to one that should have won a MAC championship--but we've been taking a step back ever since then and to say that the program is anything more than simply average is being too generous. Of course, average is better than bottom-dweller status.

Why does everyone keep bringing up Cross? If a coach doesn't do what Cross did then everything is just fine?
I have no expectations for this team and that helps me through the games. We were picked 4th, so yep, bout right.

An excellent shooting performance by Sanford, Williams, Navigato, Lauf and Roberts but Rocket Guards collectively accounted for only 6 assists and 11 turnovers.

Granted the offense runs through Taylor who had 9 assists but only 6 assists from the backcourt?
3 bench points. They don't have enough depth (one problem).

DD being kicked off team and Garber being hurt, has definitely impacted the depth.

This game in particular pointed out the difference in depth. Northern shuttled 3, sometimes 4 guys at a time...we pretty much went with Knapke...a handful of minutes for Roberts, and a brief splash in the water for Adway. Going to be hard to win a stretch of games in the MAC tournament if we don't get more contributions.
