ESPN is blowing the story up...
Who cares really? Yes it is effed up but it's the times we live in.

Almost every school out offers their scholarships. They tell kids all the time who they have offered, sorry we don't have a spot for you right now or we are rescinding this offer. Bama offers like 50 kids a year. It sucks for the kid it happened this late in the game but players also do that all the time to schools. Flip one or two days prior to signing day when coaches have spent countless hours and university money getting his commitment only to see the kid reneg in crunch time. Kid and his family need to quit whining about it and make something else happen. From what I can see he had 3 other offers from abysmal football programs, I am sure they will take him in. Hell, one is from Cornell. That degree would look a hell of a lot better on a job app than UConn.

Also the times we live in where every one gets their feelings hurt and thinks everyone owes them something. Demetri McGill who turned out to be a very good NT for us had Edsall do the same thing when he took the Maryland job and I think McGill was probably glad that happened. ECU had a lot more success when he was here than Maryland has had.

...and ten million times better than ECU.
We can't all have degrees from Ghetto State U.

I majored in Pimpology and minored in Urban Art w/ an emphasis in Stencilized Graffiti.
So telling a kid, "sorry we don't have room" 3 weeks before NSD should be vilified, but recruits holding offers from multiple schools so that ESPN can televise a hat ceremony should be applauded.

These two things are linked.

I like Frost's stance: "I want players who like playing football, not ones that like being recruited"

ESPN is all about the players; they encourage them to flip a day before signing day, yet vilify a team, who at least gave the kid 3 weeks notice.
It's crappy to break a promise whether a recruit or coach.

The difference is the recruit is only representing himself. He's a jerk but we'll probably never hear about him again. The coach is representing their university, and if he makes a habit out of it then the university gets a reputation for being untrustworthy.

Sounds like you had a well rounded education.

I was kicked out of those classes for bringing guns to class; imagine that...I thought it pertained to the subject at hand.

Yall do know this kid got a phone call from the new HC telling him everything was solid , which lead him not to pursue other colleges since he felt uconn's word was good.

It would be different if the new HC had said he wanted to evaluate his offer from the start, but don't lead the kid on to believe he has a scholarship then take it back.

It isn't right and Uconn is wrong for doing it.
