Nothing the fans love more than a decent walk-on.

I guarantee there were some better kickers sitting in the student section than what we saw last year.
I'm 6'1, 215 lbs and I can throw a football 65 yards on a dime... What are my odds?

IIRC, some guy kicked a FG during the sideline challenge right before Pasky shanked one from about the same distance last year.

Gantz that make her dance will be back next year and we have a kicker committed from Middletown for next class as well.

They may find a diamond in the rough, but I would say at this level it's pretty unlikely.
Worked out pretty well for Hunter Renfrow. It may be rare, but finding that diamond in the rough does happen and there's little downside to holding a tryout.
They have them every year don't they?

We also have Garrett Rigby a placekicker/punter who red shirted this year. If you look up his high school highlights he looks strong on punts and kickoff distance.

Yep, every sport has open walk on tryouts. Rarely do they ever produce a player who makes the team.

The old D1 adage is for every one kicker on the team, there are 6 in the stands.

OK, was curious why everyone seemed excited about something they did every year.
