That's ludicrous; WMU should have fallen back at least 7 more spots to 22 or maybe 23, behind USF, who was way underrated in this final poll.
Is that USF's highest finish?

Eh, they lost by one score to a Top 10 team, and had a chance to win at the end. All in all, they had a good showing. This is about right.

We must have been watching a different game.

I think it's their first time finishing the season ranked? If that's right, then yes.

Apparently. They took Wisconsin's best shot and will still had a chance. If that was Memphis or UCF or USF in that game, I suspect your outlook would be a bit different. Either way, good season for WMU. They are about where they should be.

Still can't believe they didn't finish ranked when they got all the way to #2 in the country half way through the season in '07. There were 6/8 Big East teams ranked in the top 20 at some point that year (Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, South Florida, Rutgers, and West Virginia), three of them were ranked in the top 10 and two were ranked in the Top 2 at one point in the season. Crazy year...
Congrats USF

Essentially yes. I think back in about 2007 there was some minor poll we squeaked into, or maybe were ranked before bowl disaster. I remember hearing we 'finished ranked' before, but not really... some were distorting things a wee bit.

After 3 disaster years, it's nice to finally get to enjoy the summer reflecting on some successes, and be excited for next season.
Well done USF...cough cough..choke choke.....I can't believe I am saying that, but it is what it is. good season.

Congrats USF, as much as I root against you in conf and against us, It is better for AAC you ended up ranked. One more monkey off your back.

Finished 2007 regular season ranked #21 in BCS rankings...then lost to Oregon in Sun Bowl.

Have been ranked in the top 10 in 2 separate seasons, and I believe in the top 15 in a couple other seasons...but fell out of rankings by the end of year.

So the answer to your question is yes.

EDIT: I looked up the data. Our high was #2 in 2007, #10 in 2008, and #16 in 2011. None of those seasons did we finish in the top 25 of AP poll.

UCF finished 10 in 2013. its a joke considering UCF's only loss was a very close game to the eventual #4 South Carolina, and they beat two top 10 teams in Louisville and Baylor. WMU should have fallen to the 20's considering they beat nobody of importance this season........ "playing a good game" against ONE good team should not mean much unless you have other great wins to counteract it with.

no, its not about right........... see my post about where UCF finished in 2013. it seems like WMU got much better treatment.

its still hurts looking at houston...... what a damn shame....... could have slid into the CFP if they were undefeated........ would have done wonders for the conference.
