Toledo cornerbacks coach Cory Robinson has accepted the same job at Temple, sources tell FootballScoop.
You guys had good corners right? He has a lot of connects in MD and FL, which are two of our biggest recruiting states.

Yes our secondary was awesome this past season! No complaints here...03-shhhh
Addition by subtraction?
If this report is true, then maybe it would be a good idea to just consolidate all of the secondary under the current Safeties coach, Ross Watson? At least then there is one point of accountability, maybe fewer voices in the mix? Certainly could stand to see some improvement next season.
Our problem seemed depth. He was extremely new at this but did better than I'd have expected. Plus he just got a promotion because strangely, Temple is a promotion from Toledo, except when they play us. Coach Robinson's other curriculars certainly show he has a future in organization, if coaching doesn't work out.

Best wishes. Hope he has fond memories of his time here.

Hank Poteat will be the new cornerbacks coach at Toledo. He's a 10-year NFL veteran. He was coaching at Kent State.

Looks like a guy who knows something about playing corner. Might be able to help with the returners, too.

Somebody update his wiki.

He has a Superbowl ring. Why's a guy like that coming in so late to the small college coaching thing? Kentucky Christian, Kent, Toledo?

Well, we'll be able to offer him a pretty good QB and receivers with which to build his rep. and maybe a bit of stability, not far from his home in Pittsburgh.
Immediate question is what kind of recruiting ties does Poteat have. Robinson may have been young and inexperienced as a coach, but had good ties to MD and FL recruiting from his previous work at the high school level.
Hmmmm We hired another Kent State coach.

Kent State Pass Efficiency Defense #20 116.18 12 Picks 16 TDs
Toledo #62 129.28 6 Picks 24 TDs

I like the NFL experience. Thought we needed some NFL experience on staff. Got some good young talent that need better skills. This is a good move.

Need a new DC and not a retread BG coach for linebackers.

Mike was here in 2010 and 2011 when UT ranked #5 and #16 in Turnovers Gained. Need to improve depth and speed. Rethink schemes and adjustments.
Only reason I recognize the name Hank Poteat is because I remember him constantly being burned by Tim Couch and the Browns receiving corps for many deep balls and PI's when he was with the Steelers. I'm not even making this up. I couldn't possibly. It was to the point where their radio broadcast team of Jim Donovan & Doug Diekin were calling his name so frequently that they had to discuss if his name was pronounced "po-TEET" or "po-TAY", and I don't think they ever figured it out by the next time he played the Browns when he was with the Jets, but they sure remembered him.

Must have been a fluke though; he kept getting gigs, and you can't argue that ring.
