Well I guess I send my congratulations out to these Monarchs.Receiving a scholarship after being a walk-on is great. So way to go Mariner and LaRussa
I just don't understand the coaches logic with going with qb's that are 5'10" 185 ( LaRussa) and 5'11" 190 (Arnold). I guess they plan on being a running team first with Lowery ,Cox and Mariner. Passing from the pocket your going to need a step stool to see over the line which is 6'5 - 6'7" average. Neither is very mobile and then your playing teams like VT, UNC, ect.
The average size of a quarterback in the CUSA is 6'2 215. That's a 4" and 30lbs difference . Am I missing something here?

QB competition is wide open next year. Whoever is best should start.

LaRussa's story would surprise many of ya. Hope HM/vapilot tell it.

What about our placekicker who came in and saved our special teams this year? I would've thought he would have been offered a scholarship.

Yes. Bobby Wilder knows a heck of a lot more than any of us do.

If we can get a 5'11 guy who has all of the tools that it takes to be a great except he is a couple inches "too short" versus a guy that looks like Tarzan and has the tools of Jane, I will take the exceptional talent that's a little small every time.

Our head coach and half his staff are former QBs, think they might be good ones to evaluate our QBs.

A little bit of his story.
Talking about the details that came out preseason camp. Most people will think he earned the scholarship because SB left the program, but BL actually earned this back in August.

We have QBs of varying size. It's not like they are targeting all short QBs. Larussa was a walk on and earned a scholarship; doesn't mean hes the starter.
Our OL doesnt average anywhere close to 6-5 to 6-7. Think we only have 1 OL that is is 6-7.
BOth Larussa and Arnold are mobile.

Yes they are and very good ones when they played but I'm not the one who called SB a HS gatorade player of the year the next TH

You do know what the word (average) means ?
For the record only 1 of the 3 you listed are under 6 ft.
01-09-2017, 09:46 PM
I'm sure that 1 extra inch makes all the difference.

I'd go as far to say 5'10" to 6'1" is all the same when it comes to height and arm length.

I see you and everyone else didn't even read that I congratulated the 2 players getting scholarships.
Roster list 4 O-line as 6'6" and 1 as 6'7" not sure them all being freshman or redshirt freshman matters to you or not.
Just saying
I hope your not basing mobility on HS highlights.

Not that it really means much, but all of our starters are listed at 6-3 and 6-4, which probably means 6-1 to 6-3.
I've see Larussa play a few times. Heck, he's played for us a number of times, including the spring games.
But, why could you not tell if a guy was mobile or not on HS tape?
Whether we have good QB play or not will not depend on the height of the QB.
