*EDIT*

Yes, let's get back to normalcy agane. Big game. I say, a really BIG GAME coming up. Thursday. 9 PM. ESPN/ESPN2. The winner remains the lone undefeated in the conference aside from UCF (pending UConn game). I must say, not much has been said nationally regarding SMU but clearly you guys are good and on a roll. The tale of the tape...

SMU
14-3 (4-0)
Last 10: 10-0
RPI: 29
Kenpom: 27
SOS: 62
Leading Scorer: Semi Ojeleye 17.9 PPG

#22 Cincinnati
13-2 (3-0)
Last 10: 9-1
RPI: 17
Kenpom: 16
SOS: 45
Leading Scorer: Jacob Evans 15.1 PPG
SMU has no size inside but great length outside. We rebound very well on the offensive glass because we take longer shots and our tall, athletic guards attack the glass.

I'm not sure how that really will work against Cincy. It could be a close game, or we could lose by 30.
Very interesting game - I'll take SMU straight up.
I got SMU in this one
These 2 now appear to be the best in the conference. Should be a great game Thursday.
If Cincy hits threes like they did against Houston, I think they win. Otherwise SMU has the edge. It should be a fun game to watch.
Challenge for SMU is to play great defense and rebound without foul trouble. If successful we got a shot

The winner of this game will be the conference standard bearer.
Not buying the SMU hype, UC by double digits. Sorry, no big road wins for SMU, they aren't starting Thurs.

Umm, ok. UC is higher in every computer ranking system.

I'm really curious why every Memphis fan in this thread thinks SMU is better...
This game is at UC. I think it will be a big crowd. UC will win this one at home.
The edge, almost by default, goes to Cincinnati because of the home-floor. 5/3 is going to be a formidable place for SMU to play in on Thursday...and that's not just homer talk.

I'm not saying that "UC is a lock." I'm not even saying that "UC wins...book it." If this game were down in Dallas, I'd give the edge at this point to SMU. But the game isn't in Dallas, it's in Cincy.

Edge: UC.

(It should be a great game and the winner will indeed have the inside track to the regular season Conference championship...for whatever that's worth...)
Cincy will be hard to beat at home.

It's just 2 of us and I like SMU's style of play that's all.

I do not think Cincy will physically overwhelm SMU (eg, SMU is better rebounding) which leaves sharpshooting as the key variable for Cincy victory. JMO....

That is fair and you are certainly entitled to your own opinion, but UC wins with defense, rebounding and taking care of the ball. If they shoot well from the perimeter, there are probably only 5-10 teams in the country that can beat them.

I don't think ORB will be a good plan against UC, but taking outside shots is. Pretty much nobody gets to the rim against UC so the teams that actually score on us are the teams that can drill 3s, especially catch and shoot 3s. Unless either team shoots the ball surprisingly well from outside, I expect a very low scoring game. Crowd will be a factor imo
Cincy clearly has the advantage in my eyes. If we pull it out it'll be by the thinnest of margins.
SMU has not been able to win at 5/3 since joining the AAC. This will be a tough game, but I am expecting Cindy to pull this out as it seems to be their best team in a couple years.
I'm worried about our lack of a true post player and foul trouble, given that we only play a 7 man rotation. This should be a very physical game, and if Cincy attacks the basket and gets any of our bigger guys in foul trouble, we have zero depth.

Our fat azz Australian center decided he wasn't getting enough minutes as a frosh, so he bolted. That and the sanctions have seriously weakened our bench. But I will say that we are playing much better as a team using the players we have - each man can play almost any position on both sides of the floor.

Should be a fun game to watch.
