Can Western and PJ be the Boise State in todays' cotton bowl? In today's game Western must stop the running game of the badgers to have a chance to win. They didn't do a good job against UT's running game when the Rockets played them at KZoo.

BTW, according to one recruiting site, PJ has 19, 3 start recruit commitments coming in for 2017. UT again is losing the recruiting battles inside the MAC. I think UT has to do a better job in recruiting inside of Michigan. A lot of PJ's excellent recruits are from the state of Michigan.
Broncos played well and represented well. Can't say that for the rest of the MAC. Love him or hate Flack is getting the job done at WMU.
Wisconsin wins 24-16. WMU played a very good game, but they fumbled five times and recovered all of them. A little luck too.
Kudos to Western for showing out for the MAC. A one-touchdown loss to the #3 defense in the nation is very respectable. This loss shouldn't detriment the MAC's perception.

But....the MAC went 0-for in this year's bowl season 03-banghead
Aside from CMU, every MAC game was hard fought and close. Mostly within a touchdown.
WMU represented well and proved that they were up to the task in spite of the loss. I was surprised by their poor ball security, but overall they played well, especially after allowing Wisconsin to start the game with two long TD drives. I'm not a fan of Fleck, but he has one heck of a team up there in Kzoo.
After the bad 1st Q for WMU, they won most battles the rest of the way. But, they lost big plays when they really needed them.

The really slowed down Wisconsin's rushing attack after the 1st Q where they were gashed for rushing yds.

They represented themselves well today.

Cotton Bowl jitters?

Must be a lot like Camellia Bowl jitters.

MAC pooped the bed all around. Go team!
Western and MAC played well in all the games except the Miami Beach Bowl. We just didn't pull any out at the end. 3 of the 5 close losses were due to conservative coaching, going for late field goals when the teams were in a position to go for the clinching td instead. Tough to win bowl games playing careful.

Western needed a minute to adjust to the level of blocking Wisconsin has. They moved the ball well just didn't play perfect which was what they needed. Wisconsin was a couple plays away from being a playoff team. Still, the game was pretty tightly matched except western had no answer for that TE. Losing their big all-MAC safety, Ferguson, to injury at the end of the reg season really hurt there.

As for recruiting, Toledo has a real solid class if it holds up. Fleck continues to get good recruits. More quality than any MAC school in memory. Still, that's just part of it. Look at our recruiting classes in recent years. Most of our top young players were rated toward the bottom of our class and most of the top recruits haven't done much. Throughout the MAC guys like Kahlil Mack, Corey Davis, Eric Fisher, Quentin Rollins, etc... all high draft choices but lightly recruited. look at Wisconsin, they got some big recruits that play well but their top 2 guys in the cotton bowl (Watt and Fumagali) were walk-on types. Outside of the USC, Bama, OSU, Mich schools college football is about recruiting guys with potential, drive and the ability to grow and then coaching them up to be good players as upperclassmen.
