With the game tied at 9, with 1:02 to play, the National team turned to Warren to move them into position for a winning field goal. His first carry was for 6 yards moving the ball to the 29.

With 17 seconds left on the clock they again went to Warren, who apparently is not a fan of field goals. Not to be denied, Warren, who seemed to be stopped twice, found a crease and sped 29 yards to the endzone giving the National team a 17-9 win in the Team American vs. Team National (Offense-Defense All-American Bowl).

Warren had 13 carries for 95 yards on the night, 90 of those yards coming in the 2nd half.

The game was on ESPN 3 and the replay is now posted.

Immediately after the clock ran out Warren was rushed by several burly people clad in blue and gold who stuffed him into a refrigerator box, taped it shut, and slid it onto a pickup truck which immediately sped away. It is expected that he will be detained at a secret location until February 1. <[OK, I made this part up.]

Damn, I was praying the last paragraph was true!
He earned MVP honors. Hell of a performance playing against guys committed to schools including Michigan, Texas, Penn State, USC, Alabama, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Auburn, Oklahoma, FSU, The U, Louisville, Arkansas, LSU, Georgia, VT, Michigan State, among many other big-time P5 schools. 50% of this all-star game's alumni have played in the NFL, so it's a big-time performance at a big-time stage. Lamar Jackson was also the game's MVP when he played, as was Dez Bryant. There's plenty more.

Warren was interviewed by ESPN after the game and was asked what his plans were next, "I'm going to be playing football at the University of Toledo," said Mr. Football.
Thanks for the additional details. I only caught bits and pieces of it because I was doing something else and I wasn't sure how much of Warren we would see. I did catch the last couple minutes, though. I heard one announcer suggesting that he should be MVP, but I didn't watch very long after the game was over.

I think I will watch the 2nd half of the replay, though. I got bored with the 1st half--watching QB's trying to look like All Americans, but throwing the ball wildly all over the place and getting themselves sacked, plus nobody blocking for the RB's. Warren actually got himself open for passes many times, but the QB's were always looking downfield for the big kill. It's very cool that Warren got MVP because he didn't get much help from anybody else. Those kids all seemed to the looking out for themselves.

I thought the same thing. I get that was an all-star game and you typically see the passing game used more, but there would have been more points on the board had the two teams ran more. One of the QBs playing is NIU's commit, again one of the very few G5 commits that were playing in this game...he seemed very mobile and explosive, but had pretty bad accuracy.

So was Lynch his first couple years.

Yeah. And he'll probably be the next one to beat us. 03-melodramatic
Looking out for themselves? We saw a different game. His squad had no line. Warren had his touches but barely even got TO the line in the first half. They were playing from 2nd and 15, what else are they going to do but pass? If not for the Cass Tech QB's (NIU recruit) ability to scramble out, Warren's team wouldn't have been close enough to even see a chance to win. His accuracy on the run was pretty darn good. Quirky but extremely quick delivery with down field length. He's going to be a challenge to play against.

I'll tell you one kid I would NOT want to recruit, 52 for black. On a play in which the Cass Tech QB did get caught, 52 held out his hand to help Hall up, then when Hall reached to accept, 52 snapped his back. I'd send that kid to some nice little d10 school.

Not sure Toledo coaches will ever figure out how to stop a running QB. Since it appears we are sticking with our inept Defensive staff, expect more of the same.

LOL! Don't even think it!

Well, OK, I'll do as you say. But, until UT gets serious about defense don't be surprised to hear a report about a mysterious bubbling coming up from the depths of Lake Erie. 03-wink
