The dude took UConn to a BCS bowl even though they were probably the worst BCS team ever riding in on that Big East tie in. He should be treated like the Connecticut version of Nick Saban that he is!
If I was a UConn fan or supporter Id be livid right now. Edsall left to go to Maryland without informing the team or the admin. There is no way I would ever get behind someone again who done that.
He is the only bright spot in their entire football existence. If he wins again all will be forgotten.
Zero reason to not bring him back. They could certainly do far worse, even were he to leave again, at least they're winning...
The only choice for UCONN... makes sense, no reason to be pissed about this except the ditch for UMD back in the day. But he's back, all is forgiven!

Skip Holtz did a decent job there from 94-98. Holtz got them to start winning but then he took off to South Carolina when Lou took over there in 1999 to be OC.
He went 8-4 in a terrible Big East to go get routed in the Fiesta Bowl. For an AD to say he didn't like the direction of the program and then do this screams some friendship deals happening.
If I were UConn, I would drop football or at least move it to FCS and move back to the Big East. Clearly, their women's bball program isn't suffering, however their men's program that has 4 national titles is slipping into obscurity being in a G5 conference and the Big East is a power conference in hoops. I have always viewed UConn as one of the biggest losers in conference realignment.

That's because Kevin Ollie is no Jim Calhoun and well Geno Auriemma is still there. Has nothing to do with conferences right now. But I do think after the 2020 TV rights are up and the AACk gets even less money is when you start to hear whispers of UConn, Cincy and even maybe Memphis putting their basketball and Olympic sports in the BE and hang their football out to the indy gods.

How can you say that? UCONN won the men's BB national championship in 2014.
