Not saying they should have made it a joke fest either but CHiPs, while it had its comedic moments was a serious show for the most part....but to "adult" it seems kind of stupid.... watch this be a epic flop.
I didn't even know this was a thing. That's a ridiculous premise.
Chris Pine's father Robert Pine was the star of the TV show.

Yep, their Captain. ...And he was A star, not THE star... that would have arguably been _____ playing Ponch LOL.
I won't buy a ticket to see it in a theater, but it might be funny enough for ppv...

It doesn't look as hokey as Dukes. First problem with Dukes was Johnny Knoxville. Second Burt Reynolds was too thin to play Boss. MC Gainey too hefty to play Roscoe.
I enjoyed the movie. The humor was very well placed and not overwhelming. The movie didn't have that cheesy, goody-goody feel that the original series had. (I'm glad it didn't). Some of the humor was cheesy but not too much. It won't be an Oscar contender but it was worth 2 hours.

The only problem I see is that the original TV series will attract a younger audience. This movie definitely earns its R rating.
It's at my local discount theatre, only $2.50 all day Tuesday.
