An observation that leads to a G5 realization...

There are only 5 non-service academy G-5 teams that play in bowl games after Christmas (Western Michigan, Boise State, North Texas, USA, and Miami (Ohio).

One of the games in "Bowl Week" between Christmas and New Year's isn't even on "real T.V." (USA vs. Air Force in the Arizona Bowl is on Campus Insiders Website/ASN)

There is not one, single P5 team playing in pre-Christmas bowl games.

C-USA's "Heart of Dallas Bowl" has the best date/time of any G5 Bowl (edit: this year)

Just stating the obvious, but I don't know if this has sunk in for most G5 fans.
The AAC has several bowls after Christmas . St. Pete, which they couldn't fill this year, Military and Birmingham all come to mind as post Christmas games.
We're going to see more 'G5 vs G5' bowls and 'P5 vs P5' bowls instead of 'P5 vs G5' too. That has already started this bowl season.

Edited: "this year," which is what I meant originally.
The NCAA gets more corrupt all the time. They constantly brainwash people too. The labels they come up with are a joke. The Money Conferences dictate to the NCAA. They influence how announcers call a game. I know everyone on here knows what I mean, but it gets more and more frustrating all the time.

What does Power 5 mean anyway? Another made up term that sticks with the media and everyone uses it. They mean the 5 Conferences with the most money. So why not say that? We lost a head coach to a program that just went 9-39 over the last 4 seasons. However, they can offer him 6 years/20 million dollars. That does not sound like a "Power" program to me. It sounds like a program with a lot of Money to throw around. Sorry to get off topic in this thread. When you mentioned how few of the Non-Money Conference teams play after Christmas it just made me want to say something.

My bad on St. Pete. Temple plays Wake Forest @ 3:30 on the 27th (folllowing the HOD telecast) and USF plays South Carolina on the 29th @ 2:00 of this year.

I agree on the P5 squeeze. CUSA is in a good position with the HOD seeing as how they founded it. The AAC is in good with the Armed Forces and Military as long as Navy is in the conference. St Pete and Miami (which can upgrade opponents) are also pretty secure for the AAC as they founded one (with CUSA) and own the other. As bad as people complained about the Liberty Bowl, it's looking pretty good right now. Doubtful it ever features a G5 team again.

This is exactly why I've been arguing for C-USA to start their own TV network and own their bowls.

C-USA did own the HOD, but our last commissioner handed it over to ESPN. Attendance at the HOD has been sliding for years. If C-USA doesn't started drawing better, we could lose it next time bowls resign.

The only thing that the NCAA controls is FCS football and basketball...along with all the other sports.
The sooner you understand that, the better you'll understand who to criticize.
