Fisher will be the patsy until they open the new stadium, which that happens I expect Harbaugh will be the coach by then.

He can't get it done at the collegiate level. He may have the best team he could ever have at Michigan, and he will always have to work as hard as he does to maintain that through recruiting, staffing, and game-calling. At the pros, he has a sea of options, BUT, he has to be professional with his player colleagues. He's the boss at the college level, but he still has to kiss butt to kids and their parents, and those kids can de-commit or sputter out. Operations at the college level are so much more expansive and prohibitive...if he could get over his ego, and how he perceives a coach should be treated, or do, he'd be fine in either place. Flip-flopping between the pros and college, though, and the reason ISN'T because he's kicked out anywhere? That's something internal and cerebral. Something's not right up there.

What? LOL! NFL>CFB. No contest. Harbaugh is an egotistical ass, but he's not a flake like Petrino or Spurrier who couldn't decide what they wanted. Looks like the guy prefers the NFL and used Michigan as a temporary stop until something better comes along. Say all you want about CFB, but it's NFL lite. You can't coach to your full potential in CFB because the time isn't available to do so. That coupled with the lower overall talent limits you as a coach. Saban had no stomach for the NFL because he wasn't good enough of a coach to standout. He prefers to be a big fish in a smaller pond. Good for him. Harbaugh evidently prefers to compete at the highest levels.

Do people really dispute the bolded text? That is news to me.

Harbaugh will eventually be back in the NFL - his competitive drive and personality make it hard for him not to want to come back - but it won't be this offseason, and I'd be surprised if it was after next year too. He will put in at least four seasons at Michigan before heading back to the NFL - but I think there will be better opportunities for him in the NFL than LA.

You're talking about an NFL franchise in Los Angeles. There are 2 ideal HC jobs in the NFL: 1) A storied franchise and 2) A franchise in a major city. It doesn't get a whole lot better than the Rams TBH. If he waits 2 years like you think he may, there is no guarantee that his job prospects look any better. Cleveland? Or Tampa Bay? More than likely SanFran will open up after people realize that Chip Kelly is a college level coach that wasn't worthy to wash Andy Reid's underwear... But SanFran is never happening for him.

Jim Harbaugh has to be the favorite for the LA Rams gig, if the Chargers move to LA as well like it's being touted. I'd expect Mike McCoy to be fired so Jim would have an option of two teams to choose from. The LA Rams would be a better fit for Jim because they have young talent and they play the 49ers twice a year.

he played there and was a GA there....even if they don't take Miles there is not a chance in hell they take kiffen over Miles

Well, if people see it that way now, then all can be forgiven. I remember when Michigan hired the guy, and you could forget about trying to remind people about the kind of stuff he pulled elsewhere. And, of course, that his college teams are full of entitled kids and not young adults, and must respect the system and authority and blah, blah, blah.

As for Miko, we don't disagree about NFL > CFB. I've said CFB is thankless. I think he had the kind of season he thought he could never get a Stanford (given their enrollment challenges with athletic recruiting) at Michigan this year, and he was still humbled. But, you can get a longer leash in college and get away with a lot more crap there, and I think that contrast when he went to San Fran did finally wear thin. He goes back to Michigan, and can practically recruit anyone in the country, and it's still just short of perfection, looking at two programs that stay somehow just about even or ahead of whatever he can put into his own program. Yeah, even in a place that loves you, wants you, will give you all the slack to be the kind of world-class jerk you can be...the operations and upkeep for a national title contending program is still just way too much than it's worth. Not that it's easier in the pro's...but you can see what he could do at San Fran...has he cracked through at all to really do that at college? Does that mess with the psyche at all when you've done what he has?

So about that extension....

LA is not the job that it looks like. Stadium is horrible for theee more years and that town don't give two S#!ts about the NFL

I wonder if the extension talk was leaked to see how team reacted. I guess we all saw on Sunday
