Four of the MAC men players in the Top Ten in minutes played are from Toledo, including Williams and Taylor at one and three. Lauf and Sanford are the other two. Coach K said Antunez will be OK once he starts playing defense the way Coach K wants and stops playing it like Antunez wants. Apparently Antunez wants to do things like get back quickly in transition, overplay the passing lane, rotate onto open shooters and cut off drives in the lane forcing kick outs to guys shooting threes instead of allowing easy layups. Coach K is determined to put an end to this. I know SOMEBODY better find some minutes off the bench or Williams and Taylor might die.
You need to remember that UT has played 3/4 of an extra game due to OTs. That's going to skew stats.

Good point. But those four are going to wear down even faster as a result.

Do all those minutes count equally when you don't play defense on one end of the floor?
I thought this was going to be about Indiana. It's the ugliest hoops state I could think of. Asymmetrical, mostly nothing to look at. Yeah it's got a bit of beach and some rolling hills down in the south and the people aren't all that bad but mostly it gets in the way of people trying to get to Illinois.
Last year I was called a "kool-aid' drinker because, from the beginning of the women's season, I continued to saying things were going to come together. I knew we had a great coaching staff and they were recruiting the right players to become a very good team. I wish I could say I have the same confidence in the men's program, but I can't. Same coach for over a half of a dozen years. Same results. No defense on the perimeter and no defense inside. Still playing a no help defense. These are the players he has recruited, so no more excuses about his players. I am also tired of him calling out players by name in public when that should be done in the locker room or at practice. Wonder if he will ever take responsibility for anything that is going wrong!

Team sucks, if I didn't have season tickets, I won't go see this team. You think this team is bad, wait till next season.

AMEN!! I put the majority of the blame on lousy coaching. I'm tired of seeing us out hustled and out of position constantly. And yes, Todd, the X's and O's ARE a big part of the problem.

I agree, we're all looking at the same horizon and not seeing this team gelling any better down the stretch or next season. Lots of individual parts that don't seem to fit together. I'd take Taylor back for a few more seasons (if we could) but that's about it. I like Sanford, but he's playing out of position and is doing what he can under the circumstances.

Yeah, it was supposed to read "Stat" but the state of our hoops is ugly so I left it.

makes sense now. Didn't occur to me a typo.

I don't make typos. Must have been auto-correct. Yeah, that's it.
This is Coach K's 15th season as a DI head coach. My feeling is that you can tell what a coach will give you in four years max. Essentially he is an OK coach who has proved that he can't get a team to the NCAA's. Not so sure why some people still don't understand this.

He has a contract through the 2020-21 season, which means UT is obligated to pay him for four more years. Can't figure out what in the world O'Brien was thinking. There certainly isn't another school that wants to hire him.
Right now, I think I'll take our "state" of b-ball over WMU's. Some things are not fodder and this is one of them, but two violent as they can get incidents in recent history, someone's AD should be on the hot-seat.

When O'Brien gave Coach K that contract extension, they were coming off a 27-7 season with a first place finish in the MAC. Makes sense to me to give a coach an extension after that success.
Not Super happy right now but I will let you know how I feel at the end of the season right now he can still stay as long as he wants last time a lot of you felt this way about a coach we ended up with Gene Cross so be careful what you wish for.
If I could see a play maker or two coming to Toledo, I might feel a little better. This program has stagnated. You can accept mediocrity or find someone to get your program to a championship level. I don't think he is the guy.

Again.... we were at a championship level with Kowalczyk back when we won the MAC Championship.
That was 3 years ago. Toledo should have recovered from the graduation losses by now.

I know- just saying that objectively he IS the guy that got us to a championship level.
