The 2017-18 Football schedule will be an exciting and very daunting task for the Monarchs. We already know that we will have Albany come to Forman Field and we will see our second ACC team "The University of North Carolina" visit us in the safe confines of SB Ballard. We will also have OOC games at Virginia Tech and a return visit to UMASS.

CUSA should include our first game ever with UAB, home or on the road. Charlotte will return to Norfolk and Western Kentucky will return to Norfolk for their 2nd time.

OOC Schedule for 2017-18
09/02 - Albany #1 home
09/09 - at UMass
09/16 - North Carolina #2 Home
09/23 - at Virginia Tech

CUSA portion of our Schedule
Charlotte in Norfolk #3 Home
UAB I think in Norfolk #4 Home ???
Marshall in Huntington
FIU in Florida
FAU in Norfolk #5 Home
Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro, Tennessee
North Texas in Norfolk # 6 Home I'm just speculating
LA Tech in Ruston

This schedule makes for a logical progression of the way they have scheduled in the past. IMO they will want us to play both CUSA teams we have not played (North Texas and UAB). They will definitely make up for us not playing MTSU last year and they will be on this years schedule. The way our home and away games have played out we will be sent to Murfreesboro. I also think they will want to see a rematch with either Rice or LA Tech. Simply because we played LA Tech at home the 1st meeting I believe they will send us to Ruston, and not to Texas to play Rice, we had already played Rice on the road our 1st year.

Just speculation, yes, I know it is way too early, but I was just looking at possible match ups against next years Conference mates.

Ok, now go out there and continue to make history with a WIN in our first Bowl game. Put that final touch on an exceptional year with a record setting 10-3 performance in just our 3rd year as an FBS program.
Our game vs. UNC at Foreman Field will be our 100th game since bring football back in 2009.

In an earlier article, Harry said we are going to play Rice at home and North Texas away. No UAB.

Hopefully ODU will be heading into that game on an eight game win streak. BTW, should the Monarchs win The Bahamas Bowl it will represent their longest FBS win streak at six.

In addition to NT away and Rice home, I presume Western Kentucky is coming to Norfolk. Definitely they're on the schedule though because with UAB back, you play everyone in your division (Welcome back Middle Tennessee! Not in the face!)
Will Shuler B be our starter for that UNC rematch game?

Will WE make UNC cry "uncle" and drive them to beg us to shorten the game to avoid further injuries?

Yikes.
I see they're scheduling LA Tech during rivalry week 05-stirthepot 03-wink

Brutal.

UNC loses only a few seniors, 4 on offense and none on defense (and a few more on Special Teams.)
They are very likely to be a top 25 team next season.

Va Tech is almost assuredly a top 25 team next season, and possibly a top 10.

Our best bet is to import Tom Brady, squirt him with some botox, and try to pass him off as a walk-on.

If CUSA really wanted to make the LA Tech fans happy they'd schedule the game at ODU.
The important thing is to come out of the first 4 games no worse than 2-2 and HEALTHY. Playing upper half P5 schools tends to take a toll on G5 schools. Two in a row is a lot to ask. I'd hate to head in to conference play down some key pieces due to over scheduling.
Next year's schedule of opponents and locations is in the article below according to Harry which is much different from this post:

Is UAB in The East or West? If in East, why don't they show on our schedule in 17 or 18?

UAB is West. The 7 in the East are ODU, Marshall, WKU, MTSU, Charlotte, FAU, FIU

Considering we just lost the JUCO from Texas... it couldn't hurt. Even then, we probably get pounded.
UNC's QB is going to turn pro (he could be the #1 pick).

That could have been a fantastic get for us, but competing with Texas Tech when the kid is from Texas anyway was just too much.
Its a brutal schedule to be sure. I have little hope to beat VT and UNC. Our best bet is to beat Albany (no pushover) and UMass (at their place) and avoid any serious injuries against the big two. Then win 4 CUSA games for a bowl. This schedule was built thinking Shuler Bentley would be a Junior with three years of starting experience and playing better than Heineke by now. Obviously that didnt pan out and we'll be paying for it next season unless we get an awesome graduate transfer or Juco QB.
I doubt very seriously this schedule was put together with one person in mind. He may have been part of the thinking, but far more likely that an overall evaluation of the team took place.

As are several of their other players quite possibly. I feel like I saw somewhere in the last 2 weeks that they were expecting only 7-8 starters in total returning. Evidently the coach wanted to go to Baylor and is now on the list at Oregon.

Yeah....worried about what the results there will look like... those two games are going to be tough. VT looks really good right now too.
