Or at least gets you in a position to try.

All the offense our team could generate, yet, overall, it looks fairly clear that we were the 3rd best team in the MAC.

Defense wins championships, offense sells tickets.

It is also true that if you play good defense, your team should never be embarrassed by the final score.

I hope this year's recruiting class isn't too big so that there is some space to bring in some transfers to beef up the OL and the defense.

Really, with that offense--this really was our year. Next season the cupboard won't be bare on offense, but without some serious defense and special teams we may as well change our nickname to The Groundhogs.

Coach Candle inherited what he inherited when Campbell bolted for greener payscales...er....I mean pastures. Recruiting, hiring, and firing is all on Coach Candle this year.

You only had 3 SR OL out 15 on the roster. There is plenty of depth on the OL, but 6 were Freshmen. Same deal with the DL. Biggest issue is at LB'er with 3 or 4 in the 2017 Recruiting Class.
Have great returning skill players. Missed WR's Diontae johnson and Neru N'Shaka due to injury. Also TE Jordan Fisher was pushing Michael Roberts before his injury so I think the Rockets will be fine there.
Year#2 of Coach Candle should be improved, tougher OOC schedule:Elon,@Nevada, Tulsa,@ U of Miami-HardRock Stadium.

One year can make a big difference with the OL, I have seen that. What does it take to make run blocking better? Pass coverage was pretty good, except that later in the season it seemed to drop off. Maybe due to better defenses, though. Next year we lose Woodside, Thompson, and Swanson. I just hate to see us squander another special group of seniors waiting for freshmen to develop. Fix it now.
