I don't normally post on this board, but I thought I'd share info that I received from a very connected individual. Word is that Big12 will move forward with a plan to expand to at least 12 member schools with the remote possibility to 14 if the Big12 champ gets shut out of the CFP again this year. Odds look good that the Big12 is shut out, so expect realignment talks to heat up starting next year.
I was also given a number of the most likely targets the Big12 will go after. I'll post that news in another thread at a later date and time.
That's all the info I have as of now. I'll post additional info as it becomes available.

Things are still up in the air. If a series of upsets take place in the conf championship games within the other P5 conferences, then perhaps the Big12 will shelve expansion plans for 2017. If the Big12 is shut out again - as is expected - then they will move forward on expansion in 2017. The magic number in CFB has been 3 in relation to evaluations of conference realignment all the way to retention policies of coaches. The Big12 has been only too aware of the power of 3.
