CBS Sports has Army against Houston in the Military Bowl!

Western Michigan against Penn State in the Cotton Bowl.

Tulsa would be against Ole Miss in the Birmingham Bowl but ESPN has Army dueling Kentucky.

Navy would play Vanderbilt.

A lot of bowl predictions are all over the place. Anyone have a good site?
Navy is already invited to the Armed Forces Bowl

It's on their website

My personal predictions:

Houston or Temple = Birmingham Bowl versus SEC
USF = St. Petersburg Bowl versus ACC
Tulsa = Miami Beach Bowl versus MAC
Houston or Temple = Military Bowl versus ACC
Navy = Armed Forces Bowl versus Big 12
UCF = Cure Bowl versus Sun Belt

Memphis would probably get to choose between going to Boca Raton or Bahamas

UCF is pretty much a lock for the Cure Bowl. Both sides have shown interest in the game and staying in Orlando. The Cure Bowl Exec is already campaigning pretty hard.

We will be in Birmingham. Its the only AAC bowl within a 1000 miles of Houston. Navy was automatically tied to the Ft Worth Bowl if they got to 6 wins due to a pre-existing tie to the bowl as an Independent.

Yea, that works out better for both teams

I would not count on Temple in the Military Bowl if they end up at Navy for the championship game. They are unlikely to go back to the same place three weeks later.

However, they need to beat ECU first (unless USF loses to UCF beforehand).

Honestlly, it makes the most geographic sense

Temple to Annapolis... plus its a good matchup vs the ACC

It does. Best chance to fill the stadium, which is what bowl committees want. I want to see Temple against P5, no matter where.

Bowl games are the biggest problem with this conference.

UCF has had a great turnaround season and their reward is to go “bowling” in Orlando?

USF is looking at a potential 10-2 regular season and a few plays from playing Navy for the league championship…and their reward is to “travel” to St. Pete?

Houston has beaten two Top5 teams, lost a close game to a Top 25 Navy program, will likely be ranked in the Top 15 and their reward is to play on B’Ham….where they basically ask fans to not cheer too loud for fear of the stadium collapsing?

UCONN and UC are having a.....ahh....nevermind.07-coffee3

Even more jacked up... We are the only "G5" conference that has multiple tie-ins with P5 conferences. All the other G5'ers, have one or none. G5 has been locked out to reduce perception damage if P5 teams lose a bowl game; i.e. at least they didn't lose to a G5. Additionally, the payout discrepancy is pretty drastic between a P5 vs P5 match up and all others.

I am not arguing your points but I am just telling you I wouldn't count on it if they go to navy for the championship game.

If they host the championship game or falter this week (and USF wins the division), it is much more likely.
I bet tulsa goes to the liberty bowl and plays arkansas
Don't forget we have a backup tie in to the Independence Bowl, which we took advantage of by sending Tulsa to last year.

We're hoping Big 12 can't fill the slot!

As a Tulsa fan,
That game would B Epic
After all those yrs,
playing something like "only" 10 of a 72 games series
@ home
vs playing the other 62 games
in the state of Arkansas

But Tulsa would have to count on
many of those 18 teams this week who have 5 wins already
to lose this weekend

2 Finally play them "Hawgs"
on a somewhat neutral field would B great!
If that game happened, Tulsa would bring @ least 15K+ fans

The bad bowl situation is a result of our conference being in tatters when the bowls (and TV $$) were negotiated. We will do much better next round.

Until then, I'm really happy that as strong as our conference is, four teams will get a P5 opponent. Those wins, regardless of which bowl they occur at, will look far better than beating SBC or cUSA opponents.

Basically, I'm happy going to Trop or Bham to support the team, knowing it's going to get better.
If Western Mich and Boise both lose this weekend, does our champ have the inside path for the NYE/NYD bowl?

The Liberty gets a number #3-#5 pick from the Big12. Hard to see that not getting filled (especially if the Big12 doesn't send a team to the playoff). Now, I did hear one strange rumor of some talk of Baylor turning down a bowl bid---that might be the kind of weird circumstance that could open the door for an AAC team in the Liberty. That said, I seriously doubt Baylor would ever turn down a bowl bid.
If Texas beats TCU they would probably turn down a bowl bid.

Don't need Boise to lose, only need Wyoming to win. (Boise losing would help though). If Western Michigan loses, Navy is in. Not sure where Temple would stack up.
