One team will go bowling with a 7 - 5 record and the other will go bowling with a 6 - 6 record.

Only five days away... 02-13-banana and we have MBB tomorrow and Saturday.

November is fun when FB is winning. :)
This should be a very tight game. I would guess the line will be something like CMU by 3 but that doesn't mean much. It really depends on how EMU bounces back from the NIU loss. That game was just like ours against Kent State. We got a sizable lead against a team we were better than, but let them hang around and collapsed in the 2nd half.
My question is how healthy is EMU (and CMU).

As we don't (haven't) recruited like WMU, we don't have great depth. This will be an issue Tuesday and again for our bowl game about 30 days later.

Injury update? Pls.

Am I walking into a trap where someone is going to say "yeah get over it bro injuries happen"? Not making excuses just stating where we are at.

We are very beat up and have been since the UVA game. We are without our top WR, our top 3 RBs (1 may be back but limited), and without one of our better LBs. Our top defensive player Tony Annese has been hobbled all year so I really can't tell where he is at right now.

Like I said previously, we are no where near the team that beat OK St and got off to a 3-0 start. Which is something that may not bode well for the future if we don't have capable backups.

Sounds like this time of year it is a battle of attrition.

From what I see, I wouldn't expect a ground game game Tuesday as both teams are really hurting there and both teams have QBs with good arms who like to air it out.
EMU seems to struggle with teams that run the QB, especially Miami and NIU (the second kid). Rush is not one of those.

Rush is a guy whose numbers dont reflect it, but he has had a a few 20+ yard runs. But yeah he really isn't a runner. This game honestly depends on how our offensive line plays. We beat Ohio because our line only allowed 1 sack. If the same offensive line shows up, we will win. If they don't, we will lose. It's really as simple as that.

Rush is one of the top QBs in the nation but this year he has been sacked more than any other QB (last I checked) so his stats have taken a hit. Reminds me of Hackenberg and Penn State.
What are you guys thinking about attendance?

Didn't look too bad last night considering it was Wednesday night, and it being at EMU. Looked better than CMU's game the night before. I would imagine there's excitement in your fanbase about this season. Both of our alumni bases are in SE Michigan, so I'm hoping to see a decent turnout. The game has a way more competitive feel this year than it has since I've been watching CMU football. I'll be there!

Don't expect a big crowd. Weeknights are hard, even harder if you plan on taking kids. Not getting any warmer either.

I've been to 3 or 4 CMU-EMU games in Ypsilanti and the attendance has never been good. It always seems like a late season game where its freezing and typically doesn't mean much. This year it doesn't mean much since both are bowl eligible but I would expect actual attendance to be around 10K. Probably will report 15K or so and no that is not a shot at EMU. All these late year games have terrible attendance but the numbers say otherwise.
5,000 actual butts in seats if lucky. We've had back to back bad losses at home, mid-week, weather, etc. If any locals/alums/students were interested in watching the 'new and improved' EMU bowl eligible team, they were sadly disappointed in our last 2 poor home losses. Doubt they'll be back for the finale, and wouldn't blame them.

talking about injuries is legit when it's to share information ("person X is hurt, his replacement plays a different style" "we're down to 3rd string on the DL, so that might be a weakness"). it's lame when it's an excuse for losing. you're providing information, so I, as the self-appointed message board comment appraiser, give you the green light on this one.

I would expect around 5k on a normal year, but I figured it might be better this year since you guys are bowling for the first time in nearly 30 years. Mid-week does take its toll, and the loss against NIU was tough, but it looked like there could have been closer to 10k for NIU... am I wrong? I didn't catch too much of the press box side. EMU's website has it at 15,603... which is ridiculous.

The Pepsi customer fans must not have shown up... 03-lmfao

Must have been at home watching on television, eating pizza and drinking Pepsi.

DEAR EMU BOARD THIS IS NOT MEANT TO TROLL:
A big topic on the main board is EMU's attendance numbers. They have a deal with Pepsi where they buy 10K tickets or something. The NCAA reports paid attendance opposed to actual attendance. All teams follow this, but it just so happens that EMU has an advertisement deal where this is affected. I like to make fun of it because my buddy played for EMU and I give him crap and sometimes when my feathers are ruffled I bring it up on these boards. But it has been beaten to death. Everyone knows their numbers are inflated and at this point it just pisses people off lol. But it sounds like you weren't aware of it.

But EMU definitely has improved attendance this year. They aren't at the 17,000 average that is claimed, but they are an improved team and definitely improved attendance wise.

I'm well aware of it. I just think there were closer to 10k there last night, and that all 10k of those tickets weren't empty seats.

For the umpteenth time, attendance talk is stupid. NCAA does not care about attendance one bit. If they did they would not allow ESPN to make contractual agreements with the conference for weekday games.

And like I've said before, is there really a difference between 5000 and 15000 when the big boy teams are pulling in 50000+? All Mac fans need need to accept the fact that the Mac is second or third rate compared to the others. More MAC alums are fans of a Big Ten school than they are of their own alma mater. Don't deny this CMU people. I know plenty of your alums and they all wear Michigan gear.

Just accept the reality and move on. The Mac will never be relevant. An occasional novelty item, yes. But never mainstream. Deal with it.

I didn't mean to stir up trouble on your board. You speak the truth... though I don't think the picture is quite as bleak as you paint it. I was just hoping to hear your fanbase was up this year more than normal. Looking for reasons to be excited about the game.
How about a quick pivot:

I'm watching a tape of the NIU game, a game produced by ESPN, shown on ESPNU.

I think the color renditions are excellent (love the EMU unis and helmets) and the gray turf looks very good.

I've seen games, usually ESPN3 and those by the cable system in Toledo, where the color rendition did not look good and the turf did not look great.

Bottom line: The quality of the telecast is very, very important, but especially with the gray turf.
All mid week MAC attendance is garbage this time of year.......for all teams. Next
