Thought this was deserving of its' own thread on the main board, but what a fall ETSU is having.
Men's Soccer: At-Large bid to the NCAA's and won the regular season title. Crapped the bed in the tourney.
Women's soccer: Best season in school history, 2nd in the regular season, lost in the championship.
Volleyball: Regular season champs, first round bye in the conference tourney.
Cross Country- Did all they could do given their funding. Maybe daddy warbucks can come along and help that program out a little bit.
Football: Doubled the win total from a year ago. Had great wins over Western Carolina and Kennesaw State, played hard in a tough loss to Mercer. Still one game to go.
Mullins put all the focus on the small sports and never achieved these kinds of results.
Not a single one. All that extra emphasis and volleyball won one conference championship, women's soccer didn't do anything. It's true what they say, wins start in the president's office. Every success they have further kicks the dead horse of the previous administration.
They can't beat Va. Tech bad enough.

Men's soccer crapped the bed in the tourney. How is tying in the championship and losing in penalty kicks crapping the bed? Crapping the bed would've been losing badly in the first round of the SoCon Tourney.
They had one objective and that was to win the tourney. They didn't. That's crapping the bed. Still accomplished a whole hell of a lot and have plenty to be proud of. The point is that our fall sports have set the stage for a great year at ETSU, proving the old saying that wins start in the president's office.

The team that did the most, by far "crapped the bed" losing on penalty kicks. 01-wingedeagle okay
Crapped the bed? This was a young team who gets the first NCAA bid in school
history. Agreed - if we lost in the first round then we crapped the bed. We throttled
a decent uncg team in the first round, which was "our" first round because we received a bye. Mercer was a solid team and in soccer, losing on penalties is hardly crapping the bed, but to people who don't know the sport.... Dumb statement. Regardless this team should be solid next year.
Yep, in one game that they SHOULD HAVE WON AND LOST, they crapped the bed. Again, they had an outstanding season and have a ton to be proud of along with the other fall teams. It's all water under the bridge and the future looks bright for soccer in both genders.
And football, who in the world would've thought football would finish 5-6 this year with a win over the 18th ranked team in the nation?! Speaking of crapping the bed, had they not against VMI and Furman, we're talking about a 7 win team, add in a close loss to Mercer on the road and ETSU very well could've won 8 football games.
Now the goal is to start getting people to support ETSU again.
