Looks like some Californians are pissed about two nights ago, and might want to chart their own course.

Quote:The Yes California Independence Campaign hopes to place an initiative on California’s 2018 ballot that would call for a special election to decide whether the state should secede to form its own country.

“In our view, the United States of America represents so many things that conflict with Californian values, and our continued statehood means California will continue subsidizing the other states to our own detriment, and to the detriment of our children,” supporters write on their website. “In 2016, the United Kingdom voted to leave the international community with their ‘Brexit’ vote. Our ‘Calexit’ referendum is about California joining the international community.”
Just more hubris from idiots. Only phenomena that has a potential to make California leave the union is the San Andrea fault.
Secession group's website if interested: http://www.yescalifornia.org/

It's surprisingly well put together for a movement only a few days old.

Still a bunch of hogwash. Just another example of people acting stupid because they didn't get their way. Time to grow up.
Actually, there are some good people in California. Let the leftists have the northern part of the state and say adios to them. Who will actually work in their new state to pay all the taxes for their welfare and feebies?
Bye!

We are not short on web talent out here.
PLEASE!!!! PLEASE!!!! PLEASE leave!!!!! I don't want to have to pay when their economy finally collapses under the weight of their state's government spending and taxation plan.
Where are they going to get their power from when they leave? The last time they tried to instil their will on the rest of the nation, they went into brown outs.

Don't forget water.

But then when the tech industry gradually moves out of Silicon Valley to Austin and Denver, they may not need as much water.
I thought conservatives loved secession? The celebrations of Brexit were constant on this board. Or is it you only like that talk when it's for a reason you agree with?

I don't love or hate secession, but I think it something the people of each state should be allowed to decide for themselves.

Politically, America is in a place where secession is probably impossible. But I'd never go to war to prevent it.
Is Secession Legal?

I can only assume Oregon would try to go with.
I hope is happens, they are swimming in massive debt, illegal aliens, and are solidly blue.

I don't have any problem with them creating their own country, but that's our land. We keep the Navy base and work on a rental agreement for the rest.

Let them have everything to the west of the san andreas except San Diego and let's call it a day.

Talk about a vicious compounding cycle. This, and the fact their best people are leaving in waves, is why their economy will eventually collapse if the FedGov doesn't step in to bail them out. I know what a 3rd Clinton administration would have done. I hope Trump asks them to leave before it happens.
They'll never be allowed to leave.

But if they somehow did negotiate a peaceful succession, we'd move there in heartbeat.

Nothing would really be any different. Americans would be able to come and go freely from CA, and vice versa. Huge trade between the countries, etc.
