Does anyone else see how amazing it is that the worse football team in the Sun Belt Conference actually beat Mississippi State and San Diego State, then struggled to beat a FCS team, Nicholls State in OT? It's also mind-boggling that many of our Jaguar fans actually believe this team will go bowling.
It's called showing up every Saturday.

If it happens once then well you can say it was a fluke. But it happened twice and that's just kind of weird.

I just think maybe the time has arrived to make a few changes in overall approach and gridiron philosophy. Whatever it takes to do that, I'm in favor of.

Joe, its not crazy. Do you think we beat Presbyterian? I do. Do you think we beat NMSU at home? I do. If we beat both of them, AND there are less than 79 conventionally qualifying bowling (shaky but currently holding up), then we bowl.

NMSU is defensively the worst team in the country on the road. Over on Jags Jungle I warned that ULM's record in Monroe is MUCH better than it was on the road. NMSUs road record is atrocious. Is USA good this year? No. But I still think we get by NMSU at home. Whether that gets us to a bowl, well that's not up to us anymore. I wouldn't bet against USA bowling this year.

We lost to ULM. It happens. They beat Texas State too. They nearly beat Idaho. They might beat ULL in Monroe too.

There's always the tendency to think one is bulletproof when one wins, and completely incapable of anything when one loses. Neither is true for USA.

And in the case of Arkansas State this year, showing up on Wednesday Thursday, and Friday as well.

Yes indeed. App gets our Wednesday home game in 2017.

I'd love a season without a Wednesday home game. I was hoping that Georgia Southern's struggles would ensure a weekend game at Statesboro next year and maybe no Wednesday game, but with our luck they'll put Troy on a Wednesday.
In FBS the measuring stick is a short metric. The difference between top of the conference and the bottom really isn't as much as we all want to pretend it is. There's a certain chemistry that locks down those winning teams. Something clicks with a group of about 100 guys that says they're going to be better than all the rest. Coaching has a certain influence on the process to be sure. But the real glue that makes the difference between a winning season and a bowl game is all about these young athletes and how they manage to come together as a team.

Your guys found it in the big games. now they have to find it for the rest of the games.

LSU is counting their blessings. At least now they have a chance to win against Florida.

Speaking of LSU, they are not a lock for bowl eligibility yet. Likely, but they've got 3 tough games left.

@Arkansas, Florida, @TAMU.

Tom, come on if we couldn't beat Munro, we won't beat Idaho on the road or NMSU at Ladd. It's past time for sunshine pumping.
We could have easily lost to ULM. They're tough in Monroe.

Great post...100% agree!
The joys of being a Jag fan. Beating teams you are suppose to lose to then losing to teams you should beat. Of course an outsider would say we are just an average team.
I bet Miss St is wondering how they got to where they are as well, they did just knockoff Texas AnM this past weekend.
I'll be excited if we make it, and proud of the guys for putting together the end of the season. But we are so inconsistent from one week to another, and the penalties, oh my the penalties.....

I think I'm on the "one more year" bandwagon, but wouldn't be upset if a change was made this year, no matter what that change may be. But we need to compete next season, win games, we have to have that to have this program grow to the point of an OCS. I don't want to be UAb!!! And right now, that is who we are. 03-hissyfit03-banghead
well they re stuck with alike uab football way

Warhawks also lost by two at Georgia Southern. We are five points away from being 4-1 in the conference with a mostly freshman and sophomore ball club.
