Yep, it is officially game week for MBB.
I ripped Murphey a few times last year for the way the team played. Primarily the lack of an offensive system, allowing some played to jack up 25 footers with a ton of time on the shot clock, and sticking to the zone D even when other teams were bombing the lights out. It seemed at times that the teams success was limited by the coaches. I'm hoping that coaches made the right improvements to all of these areas.
My biggest concern Is rebounding. Watching the team last week they have good length but only Baylee Steele and Thompson seem to have decent muscle mass. I feel like they may have a hard time on the boards.

I would agree Steele is actually listed at 235 I believe when he was signed he came in at 220-225, curious whether Nobles put on some muscle in the off season, still listed at 195
Madray is plenty big. LWH is plenty big. We'll be ok on the boards.

Hey Nickle,

Don't wait for us to play man to man because it's never going to happen. I asked one of our more athletic players what he thought about man to man vs the zone and he said the team is so athletic that man to man D could be a strength but they accept playing a zone D.

Murphy has done an awesome job bringing in talented players. In fact, I would say Thompson and Lee are the best at their positions and Bond may be a top all around player in the MAC. Any system will work if you play with discipline and have the most talented players.

Coach Murphy is going to win 20 games this season and perhaps 24+ next season if we get some shooting guards.

Let's enjoy these 20 win seasons and the talented players we get to watch. I will try my best not to grumble too much of the 100℅ zone if you do. Deal?

Deal. I'm thinking that if the team plays diciplined and smart then they should get over 20 wins this year.
Injury update......I hope this kid recovers. I wonder if Pitt planned for him to play a prominent role this year???

So I have been reading a bit on Pitt and they are going to be very tough to beat. They have starters back at every position with experience. Plus they are strong, athletic, long (PG is 6'7" and F is 6'9") and have 3 pt shooters that hit over 37.5℅ from the field. Plus, plus they beat Syracuse's zone a few times last season. The good news is that Pitt has a new coach so how they attack a zone is unknown. Add all this up and I think we take an L but learn what it takes to win on the road against an NCAA tournament team.

My prediction:

Heart EMU 81 Pitt 79 (Lee buries a 3 at buzzer)
Head Pitt 76 EMU 62 ( We run out of steam second half)

Hope my heart is right!!!!

Good. Found it.

BTW, IF I were in Vegas, I'd take EMU and points.
Great rebounding from Thompson thus far.

He is in mid-season form already.

Ready for a big season.
